Australia. Those who've read Bleeding Blue and have connected with me on my Facebook or newsletter, know the story of my adoption and the fact my life's true story began in Sydney. I plan to travel to the land Down Under in the near future to uncover the secrets of my adoption.

Without giving too much away, Whitewater will provide Hatch with some much needed peace. But as is the case with great warriors; reprieve is only temporary.
Unkillable can be read in either order. It is a true prequel and takes readers back to the beginning and tells the tale of how Nick earned those three bullet hole scars. I hope you enjoy!

Great question, Karen. Initially, the targets were selected to cripple soft targets: public transportation, small town sporting events, and leisure/recreation (areas often overlooked but are critical to the American way of life.). The attacks took on a more personal nature as the story progresses as the killer specifically targets Declan and his former teammates.
Speaking of Declan, I have been toying with a way of giving him his own series. I'm glad to hear you'd be interested, should I find a way. I'll keep you posted on that :)

Hi Rich,
Sorry I missed this message. Hopefully, you'll get this late response. I plan to write on Detective Kelly's Boston Crime Series as long as I can. My publisher continues to support the continuation of this series. Because of amazing readers like you I get to spin these tales. Thank you for your support and I hope you're as excited about book 4, The Sign of Maker, due out in 2021.
Best,
Brian

Hi Susan,
First off, thank you so much for taking the time to read my books and I'm glad to hear that you've enjoyed them.
I've got a couple directions I can take the series. One is to focus remaining books on Declan (who has been a fan favorite) or do something with Nick as a private investigator in the Austin area.
I'm putting both those ideas on hold for a little bit. I've got a totally new series coming out. The first in series is already in the hands off the editing team and is titled Murder Board. It's a crime thriller set in Boston and follows Homicide Detective Michael Kelly. It should be out later this month or sometime in September.
Thanks so much for your support and I am glad you reached out.
All the best,
Brian

It's going to sound crazy, but take a walk. This is something that seems to really help. Physically separating myself from the screen helps me reset. Sometimes that's all it takes.
Word counts and pages per day can stifle some writers' creativity and increase the likelihood of hitting a block, but for me it's essential. I thrive on pressure.

For me it was getting to take my brain on a mental vacation while in the creative mode. My full-time job is mentally taxing (I'm in a detective unit that handles sex assaults against children) so the writing allows me to escape to another place.
The other amazing aspect is connecting with readers around the world. I love that my story is being read by people in multiple countries. It makes the world seem small and engaging.

Take a risk. Write what you know. Be humble and accept criticism.
Things that worked for me:
Set a writing schedule
Read-a-loud when proofreading
Find a select group to pre-read and critique your work (look for people who will provide you with honest feedback)
Set goals (daily, weekly and monthly). Sometimes they seem arbitrary but they will keep you focused and on track
Have fun. If you don't enjoy it, then it won't take...

I'm hard at work on the sequel to The Camel's Back. Book two titled, The Lion's Mouth, is set for release on July 4, 2018. The book carries forth the surviving cast of characters from book one and introduces some new ones. All I can say is...get ready to meet Mouse. You're going to love her!!

Everything around me is in some subtle way an inspiration for writing. Whether it be a conversation with a friend or co-worker. An observation of an interaction. My goal is share the human dynamic.

The genesis of this story began over twenty years ago while I was overseas. The characters and the circumstances that I put them in developed in the interim since. I tried to weave my personal experiences into the tapestry of this story and create a group of characters that are real and endearing to my audience.
