I give myself some time, but try to write something each day when I feel that I'm in a "block." It's only temporary and usually it's because I'm literally doing something or experiencing something that is "blocking" my inspiration. So, I do my best to remove the block and also try to find inspiration in other parts of life outside of my writing. I'll read someone else's work, or go to a museum, or get outside in nature, or talk to a hilarious friend!

Hi Dna! I was really impacted by Alice Walker, "The Color Purple" and I read a lot of Stephen King as a child (creepy, I know, but LOVED his stories). I also was impacted by "Waiting to Exhale" as a depiction of contemporary life of black women that didn't just focus on historical trauma.
I'm updating my bookshelf now, and will try to do a better job of keeping it updated! So you can see what I've read, what I'm reading, and what I'm planning to read, both new and old books!

Yes, "And Baby Makes Two" is the first edition of Book 2 in "Black Girls" trilogy. The new edition is "Black Girls Must Be Magic" and that is the one that is currently widely available! Book 3 is coming soon!
