Hi, Michel! I didn't love Geneva Rose's The Perfect Marriage, but that is because I have a background in criminal law and I found the book full of inadequacies from a litigation standpoint. You might be able to stomach it better since it sounds like you've done civil litigation, not criminal litigation, so the issues I found so appalling may not bother you quite as much. I did love her book One of Us is Dead, though. I almost didn't read it because I hated the Perfect Marriage so much, but I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed that one.
As far as my books are concerned, you can start anywhere you like. Some people prefer to read books in order, but I don't always feel the way. I, personally, enjoyed writing Undetermined Death the most. That's the second book in the Ashley Montgomery Legal Thriller Series. You could start there and jump into the middle of the story and eventually go back and read one as a prequel. Book 1 is Unsympathetic Victims. If you are a "strictly read books in order" sort of person, you should start there.
Thanks for reaching out!

I actually have your Novella. It’s in my TBR pile at home. I do intend to read it, I just haven’t made it there yet.

Hi! Thanks for following my reviews. Many of the books I choose come to me before publication through Netgalley. I also tend toward audiobooks because I can get through those much faster.

I try to keep things pretty simple in my personal life, but there are plenty of mysteries in my other job as a prosecutor. Unfortunately, I can’t talk about those since they are pending cases

I started writing Unsympathetic Victims while I was working for the Public Defender's Office. One of the two primary characters is a public defender. It grew organically from there.

When I create a new character, it's almost as though I have developed a new friendship. I get to know my characters. I try to live in their heads.

Never give up. Even if you have received 100 rejection letters. If you love writing, do it for yourself. Maybe it won't go to print, maybe it will, but at least you created something and enjoyed yourself along the way.
Never stop learning. I don't mean formal classes, although those can help. I mean that you should learn by reading. Read widely, not just books from one genre. Read diversely. Read fiction and nonfiction. Read newspaper articles. Read everything and anything.
