I woke up and made tea. There's no milk.

Man, this is a hard one. I think I'd go to Pern, the world created by the legendary Anne McCaffrey, and be a Dragonrider!

I'm firmly of the opinion that there's no such thing as writer's block - there's just not writing. The more I write, the more ideas I have, the more disciplined and excited I get about it. When I'm not writing it's usually because there's something else going on in my life that needs attention, or I am not prioritizing my writing like I need to, or I'm just being lazy.
When I'm really banging my head off the wall and the idea just won't come I've started leaving it and working on something else (so far, a different part of the book, rather than doing it all in order, because there are always a couple scenes that I'm more excited about than others). Sometimes what to do won't come because what I'm trying is a bad idea that I need to abandon. Sometimes I need to work on something else and then my brain comes up the solution all by itself and presents it to me as a great idea when I'm in the shower.
Just write - everyday, even if it's only for ten minutes. And I'll try to take my own advice. :-)

That moment after I share that I've written a book and am working on the next one, because I'm usually embarrassed/scared they'll think it's lame, or that I'm being pretentious, or that I'm lame. Luckily, they almost always say one of two things: "I write too!" or "Cool! What's your book about?" and I feel so relieved. It's silly, but true.

Don't take it so seriously. I didn't write fiction for years because I thought I had to write the Great American Novel. Fortunately I got over that. Writing should be fun! A lot of hard work, but fun, too. Otherwise you might as well be at a job you hate.

Get my ass in the chair and do it every day is the best way. The more I write, the more ideas I have, and the more fun it is.

I was trying to think of fun chick-lit idea, but since I don't read much my ideas were super lame. One day on the way home I was telling my husband the latest lame idea and said, "Too bad it can't have zombies." We looked at one another and knew that was it.
