L.L. Starling Oh my goodness! First, you are absolutely glorious, and I owe you a bag of radishes. It is so kind of you to support me in any fashion! (Unfortunately) Amazon is where many authors (including myself) receive the highest royalty. But truly, any purchase at any store is absolutely wonderful and greatly appreciated. I am still stunned by the fact that people are reading my book, and I am absolutely honored to be a part of your bookshelf. I don't have a Patreon but you can find me on Facebook (where there is a fantastic Between group called 'The Sleazy Weasel' filled with Between memes and shenanigans), Instagram, and TikTok (you can find those links on my website). Your comment has truly made my day so THANK YOU! x
L.L. Starling I'm so happy you enjoyed it! I don't have a definitive answer for you (I am still fiendishly writing it). I do have an 'Otherworld Update' section of my website where you can see my monthly progress. If you'd like a 'sneak peek' of the sequel, I'll be releasing chapter one of OTHERWORLD on Halloween! You can find it on my website (https://www.llstarling.com). I hope that will tide you over until the release. And thank you SO much for supporting Between!
L.L. Starling I'm so sorry, Brianna--I just saw your question! I am so thrilled you enjoyed the audiobook. Honestly, I think it is WAY better than the paperback; Emily Ellet and Steve West did a phenomenal job of bringing the story to life. As for the production of the audiobook of OTHERWORLD, I have a feeling that the paperback will come out first, but I will come back and update this answer as soon as I find out. Thank you so much for supporting Between!
L.L. Starling This is an EXCELLENT question, and I am so glad you asked. It will appear on my lackluster website: https://www.llstarling.com You will also be able to find links to the chapter in the bio sections of all of my social media accounts. Thank you SO much for reading BETWEEN and I hope you enjoy chapter one of OTHERWORLD!
L.L. Starling First, thank you for tackling this chonky book! There ARE other books planned after OTHERWORLD. Right now, it looks as though there will be four books in total, including one devoted to Ash and Lyla's fairy tale. I hope you enjoy the rest of BETWEEN!
L.L. Starling What an absolutely LOVELY thing to say! Thank you! I can't tell you how giddy I am that you enjoyed BETWEEN! I still hope to release OTHERWORLD in 2023. However, like many indie authors, I don't write full-time, and I write s-l-o-w-l-y (and I get distracted by all the shiny and delicious things, but let's ignore this terrible personality trait), so I can't give you a firm release date (yet--I'll update as soon as I know). I would hate to disappoint you by setting a date that I can't meet. If it looks like the book will be delayed further, I will do a very fancy cover reveal on November 1st, and release the first chapter. Ultimately, I'm going to do everything possible to ensure that OTHERWORLD is the most oddly romantic, unicorn-encrusted, shennigan-filled sequel possible. Again, I am so chuffed that you enjoyed the book. It warms the cockles of my dark, dark heart x
L.L. Starling Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry, I JUST saw this question!!!! Hmm ... things I can tell/tease about OTHERWORLD? Well, it takes place immediately after BETWEEN ... literally! The story opens with Sasha stepping through the Gateway to begin her trial run as the True Queen of Between. While Sasha grapples with learning how to rule (and how to handle very pointy weapons), Lorn will be trying to come to terms with the fact that he's now married, and all the wretchedly dramatic feelings that come with that new state of being. Meanwhile, the Shadow and Between will be playing matchmaker (there's only one bed, people!). Throw in political intrigue, a Lorn bath scene, shenanigans, and at least 110% more drunk unicorn action, and you have OTHERWORLD. I truly hope you'll enjoy it!
L.L. Starling Ooooh! What a great question! There were several parts that I really enjoyed writing (I didn't enjoy editing at all. Let's never speak of it again). Overall, I loved writing Part 2 more than Part 1 because it gave me the opportunity to explore a new world. The Gathering of the Monarchs of the Lower Kingdoms scene (the curtain rods! the raunchy dragon queen! the terrible poetry!), and the scene with the interior designers (squirrel candelabra) were my favorite bits to write. I also enjoyed writing the scene when Sasha lands on Lorn's rug. What's odd (and rather nice) is there are scenes that I found excruciatingly difficult to write, but now enjoy reading, like Lorn and Sasha's first meeting, or the mail truck scene, or the fight scene between Lorn and the Radish King. Thank you for asking!
