Katja H. Labonté I'm not sure what exactly I'll get done, but I'm really hoping to reread the Redwall books and the Trixie Belden books (okay, that will PROBABLY be more than just this summer though). XD
Katja H. Labonté Yes! Most recently, my character Cellach from A Noble Comfort was inspired by Chauvelin from the Scarlet Pimpernel books, Frollo from "Hunchback of Notre Dame," + Richelieu from Dumas' Three Musketeers (and probably a whole bunch of other villains, let's be honest...). Penuel, too, was inspired by Basil Stag Hare and other Long Patrol hares from the Redwall books. I can't think of more right now but I know there are plenty of others ;)
Katja H. Labonté As the saying goes, I didn't choose the writing life; the writing life kidnapped me, threw me into the back of the wagon, and took off. I haven't managed to fall off yet, either, despite all the bumps. To be more specific, I started experimenting with writing as a child (around 8-10?). It just came to me and had to be let out—stories were the best and I wanted more of my favourites! Eventually around 12 I started writing for serious when I met a girl who wrote seriously, and writing sounded like an easy career to have as an adult, so... I started pursuing that! My goals have changed since, but writing has been constant. :)
Katja H. Labonté One stormy night a woman appeared on the preacher’s front porch and asked for him. She was not happy to hear he wasn’t home, and when the pastor’s wife shut the door, the woman prowled around the yard for a solid five minutes. Meanwhile, her driver waited in the car, idling in front of our house. Eventually they drove away… What was the story behind it all?
Katja H. Labonté Her entire manuscript of 120,000 words vanished. Unsaved edits and all.
Katja H. Labonté My first thought was the world of “Enemy Brothers,” by Constance Savery! I adore the White Priory and I would love to hang out with the Inglefords. But on second thought, I’d rather go to the world of “Rainbow Valley,” by L.M. Montgomery. Glen St. Mary & the surroundings are my dream home…
