Jeff Strand THE HAUNTED FOREST TOUR, co-written with James A. Moore. Our writing styles AND writing processes were very different, so trying to make this book sound like one person wrote it was incredibly challenging.

(Jeff Strand is my real name! No significance to "Jeff." My parents just liked it.)
Jeff Strand If you’d let your kids watch the movie Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (rated PG
In 1978; it would be PG-13 now) the book is fine.

Snuggling the Grotesque is definitely not suitable for kids.
Jeff Strand The publisher, Encyclopocalypse Publications, handled all of the rights. (Which was relatively simple because there was no studio involved; they dealt with the filmmakers directly.)

Over many years I'd occasionally thought about how much fun it would be to adapt that movie into a book. I wouldn't have done it if they'd demanded strict adherence to the film, but having almost total creative freedom let me go crazy with the project.
Jeff Strand Hi, Anke! There are currently no plans for a sixth Mayhem book, but that's not the same as saying "There will never be another one!" It won't happen anytime soon, but we shall see...
Jeff Strand I don't know if I'll ever write it, but I do have an idea for a book called OWEN that would be a parallel story to DWELLER. The concept is that when Toby wasn't around, Owen was off having his own adventures. Maybe someday...?
Jeff Strand You are!!! :)

Excluding the young adult novels, obviously, I don't really think, "Now who is my target audience...?" when I'm writing a book. My readers tend to be horror fans with a weird sense of humor, and my sales go way down when I depart from horror/thriller novels. So my short answer would be "Horror fans," but I can't narrow it down to "Women Between The Age of 40 and 45" or anything like that.
Jeff Strand Generally, I consider it a tie between BLISTER and CYCLOPS ROAD. If I actually sat down and re-read all of my books, the answer would probably change!
Jeff Strand Though I definitely haven't ruled it out, it's not currently on my schedule. There could be a WOLF HUNT 4, or there could be a George & Lou adventure without werewolves, but right now there are no plans for either.
Jeff Strand You stole my answer! Misery is my favorite, no question. One of my favorite King books, too, but I think the movie improves on the source material.

In second place, I'll do a Frank Darabont tie and say The Shawshank Redemption and The Mist.
Jeff Strand Hi, Kathy! Sadly, it's an economics issue. To be enrolled in Kindle Unlimited requires my books to be Amazon exclusive, and my KU royalties are significantly more than what I lose by not having wide distribution. My books are all DRM-free, so you could convert them, but there are no plans to make them available directly in epub format. :(
Jeff Strand I have gargoyles in my house. Do you really want me to be always worried that they're going to come to life and do my harm???
Jeff Strand Either I'm very confused, or you mean "Timothy" by The Buoys. I can't remember when I first heard the song (long after it came out) but it immediately became an all-time favorite. Catchy tune, and if you're only half-listening you can miss that it is unmistakably a song about cannibalism. I picked it because people familiar with the song would get a kick out of the reference, and hopefully people unfamiliar with it would check it out.
Jeff Strand Hi, Ashley! I've been a Laymon fan since the late '80s! His books were really hard to find back then, so I'd check used bookstores on a regular basis. In 1990, a friend in college told me that Laymon was WAY more prolific than I'd thought--he had a bunch of novels that were only published in the UK. The very first thing I ever bought online was a stack of about a dozen Headline UK editions of Laymon books (plus a couple of Jack Ketchum novels), and I just read 'em all, back to back. I never did get to meet him, though I'm friends with his daughter and wife.

My current favorite is David Wong.

Jeff Strand A few years ago I wrote the prologue and a couple more pages of DEATHLESS, a sequel to PRESSURE. I read the prologue to an audience at the World Horror Convention, but I never returned to the project. It may still happen someday, though I'd have to write WOLF HUNT 3 and a fifth Andrew Mayhem book before I turned to another sequel!
