Marilyn Sadler I recently put all of my watches (about 4 of them) into a box to take to a jeweler in order to have the batteries replaced. I put the box down on a table when I was distracted by something, and when I returned, my box of watches was gone! My story would most likely be science fiction and the plot would involve jumping dimensions!
Marilyn Sadler If I have writer's block, I get up from my desk and head out to do things I love....hiking in nature, watching a movie, visiting family or friends. In this process of finding happiness, my writer's block fades away.
Marilyn Sadler I am having a wonderful time being an author. And I’ve been able to experience so many exciting adventures because of it.

When Alistair’s Elephant first came out, I was invited to England to speak to a class of English school children at the London Zoo, where I shared the stage with a baby elephant.

Simon and Schuster published a book of mine titled, “Zenon, Girl of the 21st Century”, which the Disney Channel subsequently bought and turned into 3 live-action original movies for the Disney Channel.

Disney also bought a preschool show, which I created with Roger Bollen, called Handy Manny, about an Hispanic handyman and his talking tools, which aired for 6 years on Preschool Disney.

I got to fly to California for the premier of the show in a Los Angeles theater and meet the voice of Handy Manny, actor, Wilmer Valderrama. And when Handy Manny was nominated for an Emmy, I got to wear a pretty dress and feel like a movie star at the Emmy Awards Ceremony.

I love what I do. I feel so lucky to be able to create characters and tell their stories, getting lost in worlds of my own design.

But truly, the best part of all is having an opportunity to bring joy into the lives of children. Many of my books have been around since the 1980s and I often hear from adults, who now have children and grandchildren of their own, that they are sharing my books with them! That's 3 generations of children! Nothing could be more gratifying than that!
Marilyn Sadler Creative inspiration comes when we are relaxed. When our minds are at ease. When we are happy. And when we are happy, our lives are in-sync. Ideas flow, nice people show up, and doors open. It’s not the effort that you put into a project, a business venture or a job that makes you successful, but rather it’s the decision to wake up every morning and be happy. We can only be truly creative in our work when we are happy.
Marilyn Sadler I'm currently working on some "mindfulness" stories that deal with emotions such as grief.
Marilyn Sadler Firstly, I wait until the desire to write rises in me. That is when I'm most productive and do my best work! Then, when I'm done for the day, I stop a little short of finishing the page so that when I pick up the story again later, I know where to go with it. It gives me confidence and it creates momentum which then carries me through until, once again I stop short of finishing the page again!
Marilyn Sadler My most recent book, "It's Better Being a Bunny", is a sequel to the popular P.J. Funnybunny book, "It's Not Easy Being a Bunny". In this new story, P.J.'s mother will not let him eat ice cream for breakfast, hang upside-down from a tree or go to a scary movie! So P.J. goes to Potts's Pigs house where his mother lets him do everything! P.J. has a blast but pays for some of his choices in the end and realizes that it's better being a bunny after all!
