In doing the work to become a CFP® professional, I found that there was never once a mention of being Childfree in the financial literature and education. 11% of the US over 55 are Childfree, so the fact that a large segment of the population is underrepresented and underserved was a big question.
I decided to put my qualitative researcher hat on and dive in to see what it is really like to live a life of Childfree Wealth (spoiler, it means you have the time, money, and freedom to do what you want). I ended up surveying 300+ Childfree people and interviewing nearly 30. In my interviews, I found these really compelling stories about the impact of being Childfree on your life, wealth, and finances.
I originally planned on putting out a pure personal finance book first, but the stories (which I call Portraits) were just so compelling that I decided to share those first. In "Portraits of Childfree Wealth" I ended up sharing 26 stories of people from the US from 22 to 52. They were all surprisingly open and shared their challenges and successes. I am just a narrator to guide the reader and I am very happy that they allowed me to share their life stories.

Right now all of my work is in marketing my new book, "Portraits of Childfree Wealth". In some ways, writing the book is the easy part. My days are full of reaching out to press, doing podcasts, and finding better ways to market.
I have another book planned to write later this year but I don't have any energy left after working on marketing.

You come to a point where you realize that there are good days and bad days in writing. For my most recent book, I found that some interviews/stories were much harder than others. I had to take the time to check my own feelings and find what was holding me back. Usually, there was something I could reason through, but other times I just needed some space (days off) in writing. While we would all love to be a writing machine like Brandon Sanderson, we are not all superhuman like him.
