R. Scot Johns "I" is a book I've been wanting to write for quite some time (something like thirty years, in fact). Ayn Rand's "Anthem" left me with many questions, which only deepened on repeated readings. The first and most obvious was, "What happens next?" Prometheus vows to return and free his brothers, but how exactly would he do this? How does one free a people who do not even know they are enslaved?

Then last summer my niece was reading the 50th Anniversary Edition of "Anthem" and we began discussing it, over coffee and on long hikes in the mountains. The ideas developed as we tossed them back and forth, and one day she turned to me and said "you have to write that!" So I did.
R. Scot Johns My next project is a fully illustrated novel I've been working on for some time. I have two ideas, both of which are in the works. One is a 4-part adaptation of Wagner's Ring Saga opera, based on old Norse mythology, while the other is an apocalyptic envisioning of the end of the world. Not sure which one will get done first! Stay tuned.
