The idea for the Trails of Reba Cahill series came after several decades of hit and miss trying this story line and then that. Back in 1991 I began with a redheaded cowgirl and she went through many revisions and all kinds of backgrounds and adventures until I finally had the time and incentive to settle her down. The whole series takes place the summer of 1991--since that's when she was conceived in my mind--and it's the trials and turning points she faced at age 25 that made her what she would eventually be when she grew up. I was thinking of a time in my own life when the choices I made and realizations I faced forever changed me. That's what that summer was for Reba too.

Years ago I went on a general search to find what God created me to do with my life. During that time of several years trying all sorts of activities, I attended several writers' conferences. With some training, direction, and encouragement, I began to believe I could actually pursue writing as a professional. The smartest thing I did was to nudge my my late husband, Stephen, to get involved in the writing too. Our co-authoring and editing one another improved both our abilities, as well as our total volume of published works.

I mainly do crisis writing ... when I'm trying to meet a deadline, whether my own or someone else's. Otherwise, I write when I have an idea and can't let it escape. When I'm not writing, I'm either re-releasing OOPs, reading, or doing some phase of marketing for a part of our back list.
