PG& E is turning off power, again, and still starting fires. I'm loosing my homeowner's fire insurance because my insurance company is worried about me living in an area where there could be a wildfire started by PG&E.

I only have four books on my list so far. I want to read "Hicks Road: Jacob's Story," by a new young author I met recently, Julian Flores, "Diary of a Murder," by Jean Henry Mead, "The Drought" by Patricia Fulton, and "Fatal Pursuit," by Martin Walker. I'm going to start with "Fatal Pursuit" because a friend who has suggested several other books I've enjoyed gave it to me. The others are on my Kindle so they are go anywhere anytime books perfect for summer reading.

I live in the country overlooking the Monterey Bay just like my protagonist Regan McHenry does. Periodically the neighbor who lives below me has bright lights on his mostly vacant property in the wee hours of the morning. I'm so curious about them. I wrote "A Neighborly Killing" as a story that solves the mystery of his lights...of course if I'm right and he finds out, I'm in big trouble.

Harriet Vance and Lord Peter Whimsey come to.mind. She's a mystery writer, after all, unconventional, and they make a great elegant couple who work well and equally together. It doesn't hurt that I love old British mysteries or had a cat named Whimsey.

Hi Connie,
I'm so sorry I missed your question for so long, but I did. It makes sense to me although I've not heard of it, only observed it. We have grass under our apple trees which I cut periodically. Last year there were baby garden snakes everywhere and one of them found its way under the lawn mower. Poor little thing was ripped apart. Within minutes it was covered with yellow jacket wasps and by the next day it was completely devoured. Until they completed their work, I could find the snake's body by following the wasps.

My most recent book was "Cozy Food" which I edited rather than wrote. I solicited recipes, recipe introductions, biographies, and book link contributions from cozy mystery writers who interested me and put them into a cool cookbook and writer guide. The idea started because I fell in love with the cover graphic and thought it would make a great cookbook cover.

The next installment of Regan McHenry Real Estate Mysteries, a book called Essie set in the 1880s, and a new series called Geezers with Tools about two old handymen who solve mysteries while doing home repair.

Inspiration isn't a problem. I have more ideas than time.

I go work in the garden and ignore writing for a time.
