Maria V. Ciletti I would travel to Nantucket in “The Summer of. ‘42.” It. Seemed like a great place to spend a summer coming of age.
Maria V. Ciletti I just finished 3 really good books. The 1st one is Maybe You Should Talk to Someone, by Lori Gottlieb. Wow, I couldn't put this one down. This book gives a peek into the world of being a therapist. I loved this one. The second one was City Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert. What a great and colorful story about coming of age in 1940's New York City. The third, Mrs. Everything by Jennifer Weiner, was amazing. I am a long time fan of Jennifer Weiner's books, but this one blew me away. It was emotional, truthful and I found it truly relatable. What a great story!
Maria V. Ciletti You are welcome. Hope you enjoy the book. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Maria V. Ciletti Hi Rosemarie,
I am sorry to hear you and your family are going through this. I don't know a lot about Danny Walker Syndrome other than it is a neurological disorder. So I am not sure what type of or how much care is needed. There are three things I would like you to know; First, the only thing I know is that you can only take one day at a time - sometimes it is one hour at a time. Also, just because we are nurses we have a tendency to expect much more from ourselves, than we do from others in the same situation. Don't fall into that trap. It's difficult taking care of someone you love with a chronic illness. I think it is especially difficult when you are caring for your child. Second, there is no shame in asking for help. You can't do this alone. No one can. Ask for help. There are a lot of agencies out there that can really make a difference.
Third, having a sense of humor helps. I think this is what got me through some of the toughest times during my mother"s illness. Being able to laugh at yourself sometimes takes a lot of pressure off of thinking we have to be the perfect caregiver. (we don't have to be-we are human.)
Enjoy and cherish the good times. Sometimes this is what gets you through the really rough stuff.
I wish I had more to share with you, but when it comes down to it, these are the basic things a caregiver needs to know. How you use them is up to you. I wish you and your daughter the best. Maria Ciletti.
Maria V. Ciletti Good question. There is some limited funds available through state Medicaid and VA programs. You have to apply for them and there are specific criteria that have to be met with both agencies. I think things may improve down the road as there becomes more awareness about what caregivers go through. There is a push right now for paid paternity leave for parents, there needs to be paid leave for caregivers as well. Hopefully this is where we are headed.
Maria V. Ciletti Nothing nationally yet. I do have a few local tours in the work. I have a signing scheduled at The Learned Owl bookstore in Hudson in February . Date is still pending. Also a signing at BAM at Eastwood Mall
Maria V. Ciletti I get my inspiration from the people around me. I see the wonderful or some times tragic things that happen in life and that becomes my inspiration.
Maria V. Ciletti Write every day and never give up. My 1st book, The Choice, was published after receiving 36 rejections. Persistence pays off. Write about what you are passionate about. Chances are someone else is passionate about it too.
Maria V. Ciletti I am currently working on a non-fiction project, which is a bit different than what I usually write. My new book is a survival guide for caregivers of family members diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
