I wish I knew where the ideas came from....if I did, I could write books much faster!
It usually starts with a question that won't stop running around in my head. What if two people who didn't know each other were forced to take a road trip? What if your BFF sent you a list, full of things that scared you? And then I usually go from there and try and answer it!

That's so awesome - and I'm so impressed! When I was a teenager, I was nowhere near that motivated :)
I would say the best tools you can give yourself are to read a lot and write a lot. It's simple, but it's the best advice I have. You get better at writing with practice, and seeing how really great writers (across all genres and formats) craft their stories. Good luck!!!!! :)

I would love to!! Right now that seems really daunting but it's definitely a challenge I'd like to give myself!

Ha! SO many people have asked me that! I honestly hadn't thought about it before. I don't think I'd ever write a full book, but maybe a short story or something... :)

Haha thank you!! Isn't the Format the best? I love doing the playlists - I started them in A&R because road trips = music to me and I wanted to show that, somehow! And as I did I realized it was a great way to show another side of a character. When I realized Emily was a runner in SYBG I knew I could do them again, since I literally cannot exercise without music :)

Haha maybe someday! I have been sticking to Connecticut and California and Pennsylvania because that's what I know! I'd be afraid of getting something wrong - only been to Maine once, YEARS ago!

The next book is coming out in summer 2016 - May, I think? Keeping title and description under wraps for the moment...still writing it!! :)

Yep! There's tons of tiny crossovers. You get an A&R cameo in SCS, and another mention of them in SYBG. A TV show from SCS comes back into play in SYBG and a band from A&R as well. As for more cameos...you'll have to see! (but, yeah, probably) :)
