She is attracted towards another man who is a firebrand revolutionary. Nikhilesh is quietly in love with her. She realises at the end how much he loved her. A wonderfully layered study of human emotions.
Debraj Bhattacharya Tales from the Margin is a collection of short stories based in the city of Kolkata. I have written these stories over nearly a decade. The book emerged as I kept writing stories. I did not start with a definite plan. There were some influences - James Joyce's Dubliners, Moravia's Roman Tales, the short story collections of Satyajit Ray. There were also films like Paris je t'aime and New York I love you.

Find out whether you enjoy writing as an activity even when you do not make money out of it. Take feedback from readers and ponder over them. Find your own voice, your own unique way of putting things to the reader.
Debraj Bhattacharya For fiction the most attractive part is to create characters. For non-fiction the happiness that comes from building an argument based on facts and logic.
Debraj Bhattacharya I don't have this problem. I have to research and write reports within a strict time frame for a living and therefore I am used to delivering on time. However for creative writing I like to take time before finishing the work. Write, then leave it in the computer, return again, edit and then give it a final shape - that's my method.
