I am a Calcuttan, living in Bengaluru.

I grew up in a bilingual tradition of reading books in English and Bengali. By "English" I mean books written in English and also books translated into English.

I write both fiction and non-fiction.

Apart from three books I have also written reports, essays, op-eds and blog posts.

I am an alumnus of Presidency College, Kolkata.

I work in development sector, specialising in research and evaluation on rural development issues.

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Debraj Bhattacharya I don't have this problem. I have to research and write reports within a strict time frame for a living and therefore I am used to delivering on time.…moreI don't have this problem. I have to research and write reports within a strict time frame for a living and therefore I am used to delivering on time. However for creative writing I like to take time before finishing the work. Write, then leave it in the computer, return again, edit and then give it a final shape - that's my method.(less)
