Jason Goodwin The Gritti family saga is fascinating, isn't it? A Venetian friend of mine is writing about the Duke of Naxos, another fabulous figure from that era, but I think Gritti is unclaimed. Would you try it? I'm so glad you've enjoyed exploring the Ottomans - and as for Palewski, yes, oddly enough I do have a kind of a plan for his back story. Highly romantic, of course. Thanks for reminding me...
Jason Goodwin For the moment, yes. I do have other Yashim stories I could tell, but I'm currently working on different ideas and projects. Procrastinating? Probably!
Jason Goodwin Tintin and Captain Haddock, because it has the improbability of a true friendship
Jason Goodwin Dear Kerry - you are too kind, and brighten up a chill january morning! Oddly, I only logged into Goodreads for the first time in months this morning - how did you know? Anyway, so glad you enjoyed the Baklava Club. I was very happy with Czartoryski's swim, and I enjoyed writing the hapless terrorists. I suppose the lesson, as ever, is that mad idealism is never wise. Good luck and thank you.
Best wishes
Jason
Jason Goodwin Hi Berber, Sorry to have missed this! Well, the truth is that no-one knows if, or when, the book will be translated into Dutch. The trouble is that readers in The Netherlands are so quick off the draw that they tend to read in English and leave the Dutch publishers nothing but the slimmest pickings, so unless they can assume a huge domestic market they tend to either translate within minutes of the book's original publication or not at all… I leave it to you to start a Yashim campaign!
Best,
Jason
Jason Goodwin Walking helps. Not getting blocked in the first place is best.
