Buck Turner Brenda, good question, and one I often get. While there are pieces of truth in The Long Road Back to You, it is mostly fiction. By the way, thank you for your comments and 5-star rating. I hope you enjoy I'll Wait.
Buck Turner Nancy,
Thanks for reaching out. I was thrilled to be on the Writer's Block segment at WVLT. Having grown up in Knoxville and with many ties to the area (my family still lives there) I was excited to share my books with them and with folks in East Tennessee. Now, where to start? I would recommend The Long Road Back to You. From there, I'll Wait is the companion novel (essentially the same story, but slightly different as it is experienced through the eyes of Anna, one of the main characters from the first book). Beyond that, Between Your Heart and Mine is also good and it, like the other two, is set in East Tennessee. Let me know what you think and thanks again for reaching out.
Buck Turner My most recent book idea came about as result of Netflix. I'm a huge fan of shows like Imposters, Stranger Things, and Firefly Lane. The idea for Silver Falls came to me one evening while watching Imposter. Not that the stories are related in any way, but that's when I had the moment of inspiration that has evolved into Silver Falls.
Buck Turner Currently, I have several projects at various levels of production. I like to skip genres, so I may work on an episode of my young adult paranormal series CommuniKate. Then, I'll switch to a romance, like How the Heart Breaks. And when I need a change of pace, I'll go to Silver Falls and write about Sheriff Jayce Callahan for a while. This way I don't get bored.
Buck Turner I write through it. Writer's block is only real if we stop writing. You may not always have the greatest thoughts or be in the middle of a sentence or paragraph or chapter that will go down in history as the greatest prose ever written, but as long as you are thinking and writing about those thoughts, there's no such thing as writer's block.
Buck Turner The best thing about being a writer is the creativity and freedom. My day job requires me to be structured and narrowly focused. Writing affords me the opportunity to create any world, at any time, with any numbers of characters. The possibilities really are endless.
Buck Turner Music inspires me. I may hear a song, and the tone of that song or a specific line may lead me to think of a character or a setting or a plot. I try to associate a particular piece of music with all of my stories.
Buck Turner My advice for aspiring writers is to write, and write a lot. I don't know about you, but at any point in time, I have dozens of stories swirling in my head. I'm forced to write simply as a way to declutter the thoughts in my head. It's more like therapy than anything else.
