Heather Burch Hi Judith! I think one of the main keys to building a solid readership is to be willing to offer a bit of yourself in your marketing. There are many writers who began late in life and didn't have a lot of experience with the social media world. But think of all the wonderful things you have to offer... like life experience, advice on topics that your readers would be interested in, and even encouragements from someone who has been down the road they may be traveling. Age is a wonderful advantage! Experience is a marvelous help-mate! Best of luck on your journey! And keep me informed on how it goes.
Heather Burch Never ever ever give up. Write with all your heart. Let yourself be demolished by the words you pour out...let them emotionally wreck you. After you're finished, find something that makes you happy. Stay happy until it's time to open a vein again.
Heather Burch I love knowing I'm creating a place where people can open my book and fall into a story. I want to sweep readers away and leave them with smiles and maybe even tears in their eyes. That is what drives me.
Heather Burch In the Light of the Garden is about a woman who returns to her childhood summer home. The idea came from wishing I still had the imagination I had as a kid when I saw pixies and fairies scattered through the honeysuckle and giant elephants in the clouds above me. As we age, we lose our sense of wonder. But what if returning to the island she loved helped her reinvent some of that magic? It's a women's fiction novel with a magical realism twist.
