Chris Almeida Hi Amy,
Thank you for your interest in our writing process. You are correct! A Lot of our inspiration comes from music. We each use it in different ways but we achieve the same purpose which is to enrich the chapter and characters with the right feel.
When I need to get under a character's skin, I listen to songs I associate with that character. I also listen to mood specific music to write scenes. A sensual scene has a completely different soundtrack than a suspense laden scene would.
We do have some of the characters' playlists on youtube and we also have songs we currently associate with the book(s) we are writing.
We both have Spotify accounts you can follow for the updated playlists.
Hope that answers your questions. :)
Chris Almeida We usually have a loose outline for each of our books. We know where the story needs to go and how it ends. The paths and routes we take to get there are somewhat fluid and may have small variations from what we originally envisioned.
Chris Almeida We use birthdays of close family members or dear friends for most of our characters. Some other dates are also significant. Trev and Cassie's anniversary is the date Ceci and I met and began writing together. Picking special dates in our lives for their birthdays and memorable days makes the story even more important to us as they offer a connection between the character and us.
Chris Almeida So far, Nathan has been the hardest character to write, mostly because I held a grudge against since Countermeasure. It was only when I had to get under his skin and see the story from his eyes that I could understand his drive and his motives. He is careful about giving away his story and that makes the process slow but we are getting there. ;)
