Have you ever written multiple endings of a book and had to pick out which one made the most sense for the series or has it always been clear on how it should end?

We usually have a loose outline for each of our books. We know where the story needs to go and how it ends. The paths and routes we take to get there are somewhat fluid and may have small variations from what we originally envisioned.
