Mindee Arnett Hey there, thanks so much for reaching out. I'm thrilled to hear you enjoyed Avalon. Those books hold a special place in my heart. To be honest, my primary motivation at the time was that I had discovered and fallen in love with the TV show Firefly and was heartbroken to realize it no longer existed. I wanted to create an homage to those characters with Avalon. My motivation to keep writing is the love of story telling. It's a passion, and even though I often face a lot of doubt and deal with many things vying for my time and attention, the love of story always brings me back. Happy reading and writing!
Mindee Arnett Sadly, no. That's my only series so far not to get optioned on audio. I would love to have a version out there. Maybe someday. Thanks for the question.
Mindee Arnett Hi there, I would love to write Signe’s story, and I’m hopeful I’ll get the chance to do so eventually. It all just depends on the publisher’s willingness. Thanks so much for reading!
Mindee Arnett Thank you so much for reading. I'm thrilled you enjoyed it. As of right now, there are only the two books. I would love to continue the series with Signe's character, but nothing is in the works yet. If that changes, I'll be sure to share it on my social media accounts. If you're looking for a new fantasy to check out, I would highly recommend the upcoming Forest of Souls by Lori M. Lee, out June 23.

Best,

Mindee
Mindee Arnett Hello, thank you for your question. No one in particular put the curse on them. It was just fate. The need for the dream-seer arose and the powers that be answered. Any future dream-seers would fall under the same conditions. Dusty and Eli only broke it for themselves.
Mindee Arnett Hello Alexandar. Thank you so much for your question and for reading. As of right now there are no plans for more Avalon and Polaris books, although I would love to write more in the future. I do have an idea for a spin off novel but the publisher wasn't interested at the time. If, however, my more recent books do well, it's always possible they might go for it in the future. In other words, the more people like you who read the books and talks about them, the greater the chances.

Best Wishes,

Mindee
Mindee Arnett Hi Emma,

Yep, I sure do ride. I've had horses almost all my life, and I'm an eventer. What do you ride? Thanks so much for picking up Onyx & Ivory. I hope you enjoy it!

Mindee Arnett I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed The Nightmare Affair. That series is very near and dear to my heart. Sadly, I don't have any additional sequels planned, and the publisher has no interest in putting any out I either. I do at least feel that the story resolves in a satisfying way at the end of The Nightmare Charade. I like to imagine and Dusty and Eli are out there solving mysteries and living their best lives. Thanks so much for reading and taking the time to ask the question.

Best,

Mindee

Mindee Arnett Onyx and Ivory is a dualogy, and there are no plans for anymore books at this time.
Mindee Arnett Thanks so much for your message. I'm thrilled to hear you enjoyed Avalon. I'm definitely a huge Star Wars fan and it no doubt had an influence. Although primarily, the book was inspired by the tv show Firefly. Have you seen that one? It's fantastic. I hope you enjoy Polaris as well!
Mindee Arnett Oh, this is such a tricky question to answer. Sometimes my ideas come from very clear places, and sometimes they're more nebulous. That's the case with Avalon. It sort of evolved out of several different things. I knew I wanted to write a space-based, YA sci-fi, mostly because there just weren't a lot of those. I also wanted to pay homage to Firefly by imagining Jeth as a teenage Malcolm Reynolds. That was idea number one. The teenage spaceship thieves came second, and then the idea of metaspace and so on. I sort of gathered these ideas up like sticks for kindling and eventually I had enough to start a fire (read: write a whole book). Thank you so much for you question!
Mindee Arnett Hello, thank you for your question. As of right now, there are no future Avalon books coming at this time. I do have an idea for one, and maybe one day I'll get to write it. All depends. In the meantime, I did release a new Avalon short story set after the events of Polaris. You can get it by signing up for my newsletter (link on the bottom pages of my website). Thanks again for reading!
Mindee Arnett I sure am. My current project-in-draft is a sci-fi. My next project to hit shelves is something else. I give any details yet, but there should be an official announcement coming in the next few weeks. Thanks so much of your question!
Mindee Arnett Thank you so much for the question and even more for reading. Sadly though, I can't take credit for inventing nightmares. They're a folkloric creature and have been around for ages. In Old Norse folklore they are known as "mara" Well, not how they exist in my books, but similar. You can find information about them online. The Nightmare Affair was partially inspired the a famous painting called "The Nightmare" by Henry Fuseli. If you look it up, you might see some similarities. Thanks again!
Mindee Arnett Proxy is a sequel, but I think it fits best when read in between Avalon and Polaris. Thank you so much reading!
Mindee Arnett Guilty! I'm a HUGE Supernatural fan, and I couldn't resist a little shout out/Easter egg. Before you ask, Dean is my favorite. He makes me laugh, and I've loved Jensen Ackles since his days in Dark Angel. Now I want to write a Supernatural/Arkwell crossover fanfic..haha. Thanks for the question and thanks even more for reading!
Mindee Arnett Actually, there are chapter titles in all 3 books. My reason for including them initially is that the titles helped me to keep my focus as I was writing. The Nightmare Affair was my first published book, and I really need that extra help. Then later, as I became a little more seasoned, I kept the titles since they were there in the beginning. Thanks for the question!
Mindee Arnett Thanks for the great question! At this point I have not considered a spinoff, but I would definitely consider it if I felt like there was enough interest and that my publisher would be onboard. I do plan to start writing some supplemental short stories that I will make available on my website and through my upcoming newsletter. Having a story about the artifacts would be a lot of fun. Thank you so much for reading!
Mindee Arnett What a fun question! My favorite character in almost anything I write is the main character. Being the fav is sort of the requirement for the story to be about them. You know? So Jeth is my favorite. I'm also very, very fond of Lizzie--and everyone else. The character I think is most like me personality wise is probably Sierra. Her type-A, responsibility, always do the right thing approach is very much me. But in terms of emotional struggles, I identify much more with Jeth. He struggles with the burden of being in charge and making decisions. That's definitely I struggle with too. And in the sequel, his new set of struggles were also very reflective of where I was emotionally at the time.

I'm so glad you enjoyed Avalon. And thank you for such a great question.

Happy reading,

Mindee
