I'm not sure I understand your question. Writers tend to write books because the story line and/or characters won't get out of their heads and we need to get the words out. So if you just want to write a book to write a book, I'd listen to music to get inspiration. That helps me.

I honestly don't think I would but not because it would against the rules per se but only because I started writing because I fell in love with Indie books. So if I lived back in time, I probably wouldn't have fallen in love with books. However, if I did have a story in mind, I would probably write it under a man's name.

The best part about writing books is typing "The End". The feeling is satisfying and you get a sense of accomplishment with just those two words. It never gets old either.

Hire a good editor. I learned a lot from my first editor and a really good one will shape your story to make it readable. That sounds like a funny a line but think about all the books you stop reading.
