Jason Born Hi Dennis - Thanks for asking and I'm glad you enjoy the books. Truth be told, pre-Revolution and Revolution are my favorite periods of American history. Yes, I am working on the next book. There's been a delay on my end, but book #6 is on the way. Perhaps by year end... Maybe... I hope so... In the meantime, I really hope you find the time to dig into a couple of my other books that might interest you. Thanks so much for your patience and dedicated reading!! JB
Jason Born All the people wanted to be safe. So they elected someone to make them safe.
Jason Born Crucible of War by Fred Anderson.
Washington: A Life by Ron Chernow.
And Reflections on the Revolution in Europe by Christopher Caldwell.
Only two of these are for research for my next series.
Jason Born To write and write and write. Even when its terrible, write some more. Slowly, but surely, you will improve in your craft. Someday I hope to improve.
Jason Born Same place I get all my ideas, reading history. Boring, but true.
Jason Born When you begin to think of your characters and their actions as real. Sometimes, I remember things they've done as if I did it. Second best thing is to come across readers who've enjoyed my work and chat with them about who they hate and love in my novels.
Jason Born The short answer is that I write through it. What comes out may be awful, but I'm getting thoughts on the page. My hope is that the next sentence will be the brilliant one that breaks the dam.
Jason Born There are a bunch of reasons. I'll narrow it for you, fear not! The Scandinavians were among the last European pagans to actively practice their ancient ways when more history began to be written down. So we know a little more about it than say specific gods of ancient European tribes. I chose to focus on Norse over say the Danes (nothing against the Danes) because in English literature, because of the Danelaw, most is focused on raiders from Denmark rather than the intrepid Norseman. I also think the whole idea of setting out island hopping to the unknown northwest Atlantic to Iceland, Greenland, and then Vinland is one of the most amazing tales of adventure in human history. Thanks for asking!!
Jason Born I like to walk in nature. I also like to watch people, not in a creepy way, but it helps me better describe how my characters interact with one another. I read a lot of history, beneficial since I write historical fiction.
Jason Born Just wrapped up work on my fourth book of The Norseman Chronicles, Norseman Raider. Can't wait to have fans get their hands on it.
