My ninth grade teacher told me he was sending me to a literary really in English I. I would take a written test, and most of it would be grammar. We would also need to write a paragraph in case of a tie. He told me to practice by writing a paragraph about a splinter.
I wrote a description of a piece of wood and brought it to him. "No. This is boring," he said.
"I know, but you told me to write it."
And then he wrote "Ouch!" He told me to take it from the splinter's point of view. Someone just sat on it.
Right then I knew one day I would do that--create things and people and make them say or do anything.
I placed first at the rally.

SAVING MOM. It's the third book in my Twin Sisters Mystery series and is so much fun to write! The twins' sweet mother who resides in a retirement home becomes threatened. There's romance and Mom's cronies in the home who offer advice about murder and love to try to help the sisters find a murderer before their loveable friend becomes the next victim .

If you want to be a writer - write. Don't expect your writing to be perfect. Give yourself permission to write poorly. Just get the words down. You can and should go back and rewrite, often many times. You may not sell your first work. Most authors don't. Sometimes it takes practice on creating a number of books before things start to pop. Then when it does, it's most exciting!
