Goodreads asked June Shaw:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

June Shaw If you want to be a writer - write. Don't expect your writing to be perfect. Give yourself permission to write poorly. Just get the words down. You can and should go back and rewrite, often many times. You may not sell your first work. Most authors don't. Sometimes it takes practice on creating a number of books before things start to pop. Then when it does, it's most exciting!
