Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy from Pride and Prejudice. I love them because they are two of the most passionate and most flawed lovers in fictional history. They do their best to ignore their feelings, then hide their feelings, then humbly ingratiate themselves to each other in ways that touch you to core of your humanity. They are a lovely pair, and I never tire of reading their courtship. Of their mishaps and misadventures as they work towards discovering their love for each other, taming the weaker side of each other and bringing out the better part as well.

I try not to force this issue. I think the worst mistake a writer can make is to manufacture what will not come naturally. If the words seem distant, I do things that keep me close to the story like research on topics that are germane to what I am doing. I take a walk, play with my dog, read another book that is in the same genre, but I don't force it. Eventually the bumps loosen and the words begin to flow again.

Believe it or not.....I take a shower. I get some of my best ideas in the shower. It is actually a joke in my family when I say I am stuck in a story. They always tell me to take a nice hot shower and things will clear up. They almost always do.

There are no limits when it comes to writing. Oh sure, you can find opinions from every corner that will contradict one another about what you can and cannot do in a story, but when it is just you and that blank page.....everything is possible. The only limiting factor is your own imagination.
