Nenia Campbell Hopefully yes! I have several gothic horror novels I'm working on, in addition to a companion book to Raise the Blood, and I'm also reworking some of the unpublished books on my backlist to eventually republish them.
Nenia Campbell I find it interesting that this is a concern most commonly addressed to femme presenting authors of dark fiction. My books are NOT intended for anyone under 18 and I market them as such, just as I make it clear that I don't endorse the content of my books in my trigger warnings. I can't control how people interpret my work, but in this age of dwindling media literacy, I think it's critical for people to thoughtfully consume the media they engage with and to understand that people can entertain ideas they don't endorse as an exploration of the world as it is, was, and could be, in all of its beauty and horrors.
Nenia Campbell Ahhh thank you so much! You might really enjoy my gothic romance, Raise the Bløød, which has a charming and manipulative MC. My vampire romance, Through a Glass Darkly, also has a psycho hero. I'm also working on a five book fantasy series that has a depraved villain love interest. 😘
Nenia Campbell Yes, some of my favorites are The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo, Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder, Poison Master by Liz Williams, The Winter Duke by Claire Eliza Bartlett, Beyond the Black Door by A.M. Strickland, The Bride of Lycaster by Perci Jay, and Song of the Demon Court by Dakotah Gumm.
Nenia Campbell Yes! The Villain Gets the Girl series is going to be a bunch of paranormal standalones with villain love interests. Most of them will probably be set in different universes but I'd like to maybe do a sapphic novella about Dory. Thank you so much for reading. 🖤
Nenia Campbell Sounds like mildew. They make sprays for that. Lysol has a good one!
Nenia Campbell Their beliefs are antithetical to mine and I do not support them.
Nenia Campbell Yes, I deleted some reviews where I felt like I may have reviewed the books in bad faith, either because I wasn't the target audience or because I went into them expecting not to enjoy them. I didn't feel like I could stand behind them anymore.
Nenia Campbell A lot of my favorite books that I've written were done in a gothic or gothic-adjacent style, usually with close/limited third person POV done from both love interests. I love gothic romance and plan to write a lot more of it! :-)
Nenia Campbell Hi! Yes, I'm slowly putting out each of my books into paperback and I definitely want to get the whole Horrorscape series out. Terrorscape needs one too. 😅 It's just taking a while because I'm doing it all myself! I appreciate your interest, though! ❤️
Nenia Campbell I've always enjoyed writing. When I'm sad and lonely, it makes me feel less sad and alone. It's a little like playing with a dollhouse, except the dollhouse is in my head.
Nenia Campbell The Shadow Thane series is finished! Dragon Queen is the last book. I published it in 2020. And all of my Kindle Vella stories are turned into ebooks when I'm done serializing. Raise the Blood started out as a serial and I added about 20,000 words of new content for new and returning readers. Sine Qua Non is almost done and it's going to be published to Kindle too after I'm done serializing. SQN, as a finished ebook, is going to have four new chapters plus a lot of new scenes that weren't in the original serial. There's not actually any time being wasted for readers who don't use KV because I update as I'm writing, and use the exclusivity window to add new scenes and edit for the book before I publish it to Kindle. Hope this helps!
Nenia Campbell That's wonderful to hear, thank you! Yes, there's a sequel called Sine Qua Non that I've been serializing since October 2023 on Kindle Vella: https://www.amazon.com/kindle-vella/e...

First ten chaps are free to read if you want a sneak peek but I'll be turning it into a Kindle book as soon as I'm done ^_^
Nenia Campbell I AM! I actually have most of Evergloom written and I just need to fix it up! I don't have a lot of time to write at the moment so unfortunately I tend to come up with ideas faster than I can write them, BUT everything I have listed is something that I do plan to publish! Thank you so much for your interest. <3333
Nenia Campbell Both my Horrorscape series and my standalone, Raise the Blood, have hints of this. I would also recommend The Scholomance by R. Lee Smith and Through the Smoke by Brenda Novak.
Nenia Campbell It depends on your comfort level tbh! If you're new to dark romance, I'd recommend LITTLE DEATHS, which is a Scream-inspired slasher romance with a 40+ heroine. If you know you like dark romance and want something messy and super fucked up, definitely check out RAISE THE BLOOD.
Nenia Campbell I haven't finished An Isolated Incident because I misplaced my copy but I LOVED the beginning. Maguire is one of my favorite authors and criminally underrated. I gave TAMING THE BEAST and FISHING FOR TIGERS five stars, each. She's so good at handling dark subjects sensitively and interestingly.
Nenia Campbell Oh, see, that's not fair because now I want to turn my idea into a book. 😂
