Hi Alby! Sorry it took me so long to respond, I haven't been active on Goodreads at all. For Simoqin, the insipiration was really every book I'd ever read in my first 22 years, but if I had to look at what influenced it most, I'd say Discworld, world myth, and... actually, every book I'd ever read, and every film I'd ever seen as well. Learning to tell stories in any medium is a matter of patience and practice, and I assure you I wasn't writing at all when I was your age.

Yes, but that's going to take a while. Want to try a couple of other new ideas first.

Thanks Vivek! Dont know if there will be more books in the superhero series as yet. If there's an idea that's right, then definitely.

The Stoob series came from wanting to chronicle the adventures of a bunch of kids I know. Before that, Resistance, sequel to Turbulence, which came from actively wanting to write on a theme that had been in my head for a while.

I know that it's more fun than most other things in this life. Certainly more fun than nearly all other things you can do by yourself.

A number of things. The third Stoob book is my next deadline. I have a few books kind of gestating, waiting to go somewhere. I'm also working on a few TV and film projects, but that's stop and start work

Be patient. There's no magic formula, and no shortcut. Things get easier. They never get easy, but they get easier.

You love what you do. You get to do it for a living. And everything is research, which justifies any kind of procrastination. Occasional bursts of minor fame don't hurt either. And your work makes a difference to people's lives, and when they tell you about it it's very rewarding.

I work on something else until it goes away. Anyone in any line of work has productivity fluctuations, there's no particular reason to fetishise a lack of ability to write the next word. If the writing's not coming the way it should, just do something else. I've also tried powering through bits and returning and rewriting them later, but if you have a number of things you're working on, and I usually do, there's always another interesting option to turn to.
