Balin Books is a good store, and it's pretty supportive of local authors. I appreciate that he keeps me in stock!
I, too, wish scads of book lovers showed up at my readings and purchased ALL

(view spoiler)[In Mercury Rising what inspired you to turn the Brooklyn Lamontagne protagonist into Deadpool? The book took a Graphic Novel turn with that?
BTW, if you're interested in some for real orbital mechanics, I can recommend the computer simulations Children of a Dead Earth and Kerbal Space Program AKA "KSP". "Radiators" to remove waste heat in spaceships are very important. (hide spoiler)]

If you've not read Earth Retrograde, I don't want to give too much away about that. The true second book would have done more with the idea, but Brooklyn loses memories the longer he's out of commission. This is a useful feature for some parties.
He doesn't regenerate, either. In the original book two, he lost a leg.
Thanks for recommending the simulations. I'll have a good time fooling around with those!
I appreciate you reaching out with questions!

Charles! Thanks for your question. Sadly, after the first book was published and failed to make scads of money, the publisher decided three books were not in the cards. I re-wrote Book Two to end the story, and First Planets became a duology.

I'd go to the Star Trek universe. They seem to have figured out most of the problems I'm worried about.
I'd bring back a Federation Runabout, because that's really all the spaceship I need.

I read a lot. Thank a lot. Inspiration, I think, is about making connections. If your head is always full of stuff, the connections just draw themselves, Just take your head to the keyboard and hang on!

You, not the cat, are the boss of the writing chair.

I don't get it often enough to have a strategy. There are days--weeks even--when I don't feel like writing, but I've seldom gone to the idea well and come up empty. Most times the trick is just to keep going. It's a lot easier to do that, in my opinion, than to restart.
