Jason R. Briggs Snake Wrangling for Kids is quite old now - I'd suggest Python for Kids instead because at least that has some game projects in the latter parts of the book. After that you probably want to look at self-learning a library like PyGame (assuming you want to stick with Python). But if you're talking about professional games dev, I guess perhaps branch your learning out into another language as well. You don't say what sort of games dev, so hard to provide guidance, but if you're thinking about modern console or PC games, then you'll need to learn C/C++ (so you'll want to look at some beginners books/guides for C and C++) -- if you're talking about mobile games, iOS would be Objective-C or Swift languages, and Android would be Java. So there's lots of stuff out there about getting started with those...

Hope that helps.
