Rani Divine I don't do seasonal reading lists, but I am reading a couple different things right now. I'm on an alternation cycle, actually. I don't game, on principle, because it takes up too much time and I get addicted, but I have a lot of friends who played The Witcher, and I felt left out that I didn't know what was going on. I started The Witcher book series by Andrzej Sapkowski a couple weeks ago, to fill that void. But because of a delay in ordering the second book, I started Ender in Exile by Orson Scott Card... and now I can't stop. So right now I'm reading Sapkowski's Sword of Destiny (the second in the series), but when I finish I'll be reading Card's Speaker For the Dead (the third in the series), and I'll go back and forth from there until I'm done. Ask a writer a question, get a lot of words in response.
Rani Divine Much of my inspiration comes from dreaming. I have weird dreams. I actually started writing because I had this dream I couldn't get out of my head, and I thought it would leave if I wrote it down. It didn't.
Rani Divine Don't stop writing! That's probably the best advice I can give. Never give up, and never be afraid to submit your work somewhere, even if you don't think it's very good. Check out www.RAD-Writing.com (where I work) if you have a novel you're ready to submit, or if you want some help getting started. Everybody has to start somewhere.
Rani Divine I don't. Honestly, I don't believe in it. My feeling is that if you believe in something, you give it power. So in saying that one has writer's block, it makes it impossible to escape. But I will never admit to having writer's block — and therefore I don't have it. Really. It works.
Rani Divine I got the idea for "The Found" in church, though it had nothing to do with what we were talking about at the time. The teacher said something about space, and my mind went off on a merry little adventure. I think that's all I can say about the idea, without spoiling the ending — for some reason, I had the ending in mind when I started.
Rani Divine Right now, I'm working on a lot of things. While Cedwig will be out next week, the third Druid novel will release next year, and I'm deep in the throes of editing. Meanwhile, I'm also working on the first draft of the final novel in the Druid series, and the final in another series, yet to be released. Hopefully I'll get some excerpts online in a few months!
