Gerald Freeman Hi Jeri,
now that is a tough one. However, I would definitely go with writing because it is much easier to share your thoughts and ideas with people on a large scale than it is with sculpture. For one, there are no transport costs for a book, or very little, but shipping stone is a costly business, so my exhibitions are pretty much confined to the Portuguese public. Also, the reading audience is more accessible and if I consider what my objectives are and what I would like to fulfill in my lifetime, the unselfish answer would be writing books. Luckily, for the time being I am able to do both and maximize my creative outlets, making life more interesting and fun for me and the people who enjoy my work.
Gerald Freeman I Don't Believe God Wrote The Bible is a story about me hitching around Europe in search of something to do with my life. Young people are forced onto the career conveyor belt from as young as two years old and they only see the life options presented to them through school and other sources within that environment. I believe young people should be encouraged to take time out from education and do something different before opting for a career they do not really want. I would hope to show others that there are infinite options in life but you have to go and look in order to discover them.
Gerald Freeman I am inspired by Life and the different experiences we have here on the planet. I also get inspired when I see people and creatures suffering, because I want to raise awareness about how connected we all are. We should be treating all forms of life with respect, for our own sakes.
Gerald Freeman The book I am currently working on is called ‘I Don’t Believe God Wrote The Bible’. It will be a fun, yet inspirational read. I hope to connect with anybody curious about the enigma of Life and the billions of different personalities that make up the population of our planet.
This book is part of my journey through life, but at the same time, one we all have to make: growing up. I wasn't inspired by any of the possible futures on offer to me in England, so at the age of twenty, I went off hitch-hiking around Europe in search of something to fill up the next sixty years of my life with.

I escaped from an abusive household when I was fifteen. That is when my travelling began. I promised myself I would follow my heart one hundred percent. I hoped to grow up into the real me, and not a watered down version of who I could be. This led to one hell of an exciting ride, thrusting me into situations and throwing opportunities at me, opportunities which I never imagined could even exist. This journey was fundamental in creating the foundations for who I would become, the man I am today. It contributed a great deal towards the healing and helping me cope with memories from the past. The memories could so easily have destroyed me. But, this is a positive, shocking and often comical story of my life on the road, and the different directions people choose to take.
Gerald Freeman Do not take shortcuts.
Gerald Freeman I think that sharing my mind is both the most wonderful thing and the most scary.
Finding out that your writing has touched another human being in a good and special way is also empowering and humbling at the same time.
Gerald Freeman Incredibly, I have not suffered with it so much. I have so many projects and things to say that my problem is not being able to stop and exhausting myself. If I can't get a sentence right or I have trouble constructing it, I leave it and carry on writing. I will re-read it the next day and usually it comes out as I want it.
