Hi Wade<
I just found this question! Please forgive me for taking so long to answer, keeping up with Goodreads and Amazon is not my strong suit.
Yes, the town was a composite of several small towns in South Alabama, as well as things from my imagination that were needed for the story. I really couldn't talk about the Wiregrass region and not talk about helicopters, especially since the story takes place in 1968. I hope you enjoyed reading it. My second book, Moon Water: A Novel, just came out. If you have time, check it out and let me know how you like it. Best wishes, Pam

I think most authors, especially Southern ones, write about people, places, and events that have special meaning to them.

Don't wait to the right time and the right place. Start writing, even if it is just ideas to include in the story. There will be plenty of time to edit and polish later.
