Will Patching Hi Fiona. Yes, Kate and Doug will be back next year. I had planned on writing the sequel by now as I have an outline, but life rather got in the way! Also Remorseless has been downloaded over 160,000 times this year whereas The Hack has reached about one eighth of that figure, so I will finish the Remorseless trilogy first since there is so much more interest. Sorry! The sequel, Mutilated is with the proof readers now, and I am sending copies to my launch team this week and next. The third book is due in early 2017, and The Hunter will be out before next year end - I promise! Sorry you were shocked by my sudden ending - it was designed to have a startling effect, not to disappoint. BTW if you want to join my Launch Team or Readers Group, you can do so by contacting me here or through my website. Thank you for your enthusiasm and interest! Will
Will Patching People I know or meet, news items, day to day happenings - all inspire ideas that could make a great story, though I'm fascinated by psychopathy (I have a dedicated website). The malign influence of 'socialised psychopaths' is, I believe, one of the most important issues we face. Almost all the really big issues - yes, war, but also things like the financial crisis of 2008 and global warming - stem from the deficit in humanity exhibited by this 1-2% of the population.
Will Patching I'm creating an audiobook of my Brit crime thriller, Remorseless. It is taking forever (see my blog for more if you are interested). I am half way through the follow up (Mutilated) and have some cool ideas for the follow up to The Hack, plus a prequel in the offing.
Will Patching Learn all you can about ebook and audiobook marketing, then you will be free of agents and publishers. And write. Lots.
Will Patching When characters 'come to life'! They often surprise me by refusing to do my bidding, or by heading in a unexpected direction, leading me to a different outcome than I envisaged. I don't plan my books, I create a list of 'what if' type scenarios and get going. I have to revise the early pages as the characters develop so it is not the most efficient way of getting the story into shape, but it works for me. It also means there is an element of suspense for me while writing if I am not entirely sure where things are going. I get bored quickly so writing a detailed synopsis of the story, filling out the character back stories and knowing exactly how things will end just does not work for me.
Will Patching For me, 'block' is to do with life getting in the way of writing - a lack of time rather than a lack of inspiration. Maybe that will change now I have more time to focus on creating new stories!
