Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Gustavo Florentin I got the idea for The Schwarschild Radius from my experience at the Bronx High School of Science where there were so many really brilliant kids. I liked the idea of a young person solving a crime with her wits and that gave rise to Rachel Wallen.

How do you get inspired to write?
Gustavo Florentin I need a really good premise. It has to be strong enough to motivate a main character and propel him through all the adversities he will face.

What are you currently working on?
Gustavo Florentin An international conspiracy. Conspiracies facinate me in a way the serial kilers don't.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Gustavo Florentin Keep reading and keep writing and never give up.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Gustavo Florentin The best thing is the thrill you get when you come up with a great line or plot twist. And of course, the satisfaction of completing a book which will hopefully be read long after we're gone.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Gustavo Florentin I avoid writer's block by keeping a list of subjects to write about. I have a folder with "works in development" and there are about a dozen novels, short stories and scripts that I am working on at any given moment in addition to the main project I am working on. Always carry a notebook and pen and observe with an eye to writing about what you see.
