I avoid writer's block by keeping a list of subjects to write about. I have a folder with "works in development" and there are about a dozen novels, short stories and scripts that I am working on at any given moment in addition to the main project I am working on. Always carry a notebook and pen and observe with an eye to writing about what you see.
