Amy Tanner Hi Megan...Oh, so many questions...My full name is Amy Lynn Tanner. You'll have to ask my parents as to why...it means 'beloved', which I rather like. Sure I've been offended by people. I have two sisters and no children. I have so far written one book, The Virgin of Hopeless Causes, unless you count the one I wrote when I was in fourth grade for English class. I think it was a mystery and might have involved a flashlight. How can anyone have a favorite color? There are so many, and I like to enjoy them all...although I am kind of partial to hot pink at the moment. Thanks for asking.
Amy Tanner Or for aspiring any people: I thought I made this up but I didn't. Or maybe I did, but I wasn't the first. Like Ray Bradbury said: Fall in love. Fall in love with what you're doing, and that love will carry you through the hard parts, when you feel like the skin is slowly being peeled from your body. If you trust the goodness that is in you and allow it to express itself in the way that is singular and particular to you, your life will become a thing of beauty, and your friends will love you even more, and you will rock.
Amy Tanner I sit down and try to be quiet, and usually there's a gleaming thread there with words on it for me to follow. Sometimes I'll read through parts I've already written or made notes on, which gets me excited, which gets my creative brain revved up and ready to play.
Amy Tanner I was rereading a battered copy of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and thought: "I want to write something like this! A fun, rollicking romp...Something I can breeze through in six months or so..." There was even a teensy piece of paper stuck into the front of the book with scribbling on it that turned out to be Douglas Adams' signature. A good omen. Although if I'd known that six months would turn into six years, I probably would have run the other way, screaming. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.
