In To Reap a Whirlwind, you'll learn so much more about what makes Alex who he is. You will meet his mother and father, and others who shaped his life. You will also learn more about the history of the Arrowleaf Ranch and Broken Ridge, Wyoming.
The third book in the series will see Alex and Ellie's children growing up and facing a changing world as they enter the 20th century. The story is darker and more difficult to write, given what Native people and people of mixed heritage faced. The biggest challenge in this is to really step inside each of them (Jack, Grace, and Ian) and walk in their skins. To go where they go emotionally. I have to find ways to get there, given my lack of personal experience with such issues, to do them and the history justice.

That's a tough question. I've been thinking about it since you asked. The truth is, no, I don't. I love every single one of them. I love the ones I've published and the ones that no one else will ever see. Every one represents something special and each one holds a special bit of me in it.

I walk away from it. I do other creative things. But, for me, writing happens in an internal zone so, it doesn't go a well when I work at it or force it.

Write! Just write. Write long passages, write paragraphs, write ideas... whatever comes to you. Don't edit and don't worry about grammar. Just let it flow. That's when the best writing happens.

I have a story a wrote awhile ago, that I would like to edit and tweak for publishing. Another character has suddenly decided that she would like her story told first. So, I'm working on both.

I am usually inspired as I try to fall asleep, with a character walking into my thoughts and ready to tell his or her story.

I honestly don't remember where the idea came from. I can say that I pictured Colin Firth as John Worthington the entire time I write the story. And, I saw it more as a play than a book, even to how the stage would be set up.
