There are 5 books currently planned for the series. I am writing the 3rd one right now!

(view spoiler)[At the risk of ruining things for you, dragons don't have parents as we typical do. It's to do with a flight's collective song - the music and communal element brings eggs into being. The notes of certain dragons can descend to an extent, and some dragons will claim ancestry like we do based on the strength of those notes but it's a not a direct matter of genetics. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Hi Gabby! Thanks for reading! How the thoughts contribute to mystic motes will be dealt with more in depth in book 2, so while I am still writing it I don't want to make anything definitive. As for dragon types, the world only knows of the five main types (and now a few know about Ash). Again, book 2 deals with the consequence of Ash hatching, and other eggs may now be hatched where they were previously destroyed, meaning a bunch of new types are about to be discovered. A solar dragon could be one of them...

I'm working on a sequel right now! I'm slower than many of my peers and I edit and redraft a lot until I'm happy with a book so I ask my readers to have patience and bear with me while I get it right!

Hi Naveen, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Ascendant! I still need to write book 2 so I can't say for sure when it will release. The best way to keep up to date with it is to join my mailing at my website www.michaelrmiller.co.uk

Hi Abby, only a couple of sex scenes are referenced but each tastefully fade to black. No nudity.
The books are aimed at a broad age range. I think 12+ would enjoy them but I had adults in mind when writing them.

Hi Timonthy,
Sorry this reply took so long - I don't check Goodreads as often as I should. It is my intention to write a follow up to Battle Spire, however, I commited to a different project before Spire even released and which I am still working on. My work as a partner at Portal Books also takes a great deal of my time.
I would absolutely love to write a sequel and I think I have a good idea now of what that would entail but I can't guarantee when it will be done.
I'm really happy you enjoyed Spire. It was such a passion project for me and to see it going down so well with readers in the genre has been very rewarding.
Best,
Michael

Hi Peter! So sorry for the super late reply but I didn't get a notification on this or anything.
That book about the potboy and his blind dragon is coming along nicely! I'm hopeful I'll have a draft done by the end of the year :)

Hi Paul - sorry it took me so long to reply.
I have no plans right now to continue Elsie's story. I saw it as a nice prequel to the main series and a way of setting up both the world and tone. I will never say never and perhaps one day I will expand it but given everything I've got to do it seems unlikely.
I'm glad you enjoyed the story though and you should see a few references to her in the main series :)
Best,
Michael

Hi Thomas,
Absolutely!.... one day. I want to take a break and write some lighter books for a while. Still fantasy, of course. My next book will be a LitRPG

Hey Raewynn!
Thanks for reading my book, I'm so glad you enjoyed it :D You also seem pretty clued in on the whole idea of advanced readers so I'd be happy to add you into my team. Could you send me an email at michael@thedragonsblade.com
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Michael

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, for sure.
Guess Blaine would kick his ass in a fight - dragon/superhuman, magic sword and all that. But Jamie would kick his ass in charisma, humor, and personal self-loathing (but that one's close :P)

Hey DC, good to hear from you! Book 3 is coming along steadily. I reckon I'll have a first (rough) draft done within the next month or so. Getting to some big moments I've waited years to write. Dave has just completed the audio book today actually :) We'll be doing a proof and some pickups with the aim to release early in August in time with a bunch of promotions I'll be running. It's been awesome to hear some of the scenes in Veiled come to life. Dave's been on fire this time.

Hi Lindsey,
Thanks for picking up a copy! I hope you enjoy it :)
The Dragon's Blade is planned to be a trilogy. And definitely a trilogy. I am hard at work on book 3 right now.

(view spoiler)[Yes indeed. Don't worry, Cullen isn't just abandoned after the battle. Balack in particular feels very protective about him. (hide spoiler)]

This is something which comes up a lot in interviews so I thought I'd share it here. This is in relation to the Reborn King, the first book in the Dragon's Blade trilogy.
Reincarnation isn’t startlingly original but I felt it was the right path to take for Darnuir and exploring nature vs nurture. There were two major influences on how I decided to approach the trope.
The first was the old RPG game called Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Kotor) in which you play as a character who has had his/her memories wiped and is essentially starting fresh. I loved that game and I think it’s easy with hindsight to see where the seed of Darnuir’s own rebirth came from.
The second was a philosophy question brought up in a basic first year module at university along the lines of ‘what would happen if you took person X and transferred their memories into person Y?’ It was a question without an answer. Something that could only be explored in fiction. And I reckoned it would be a great extra layer to Darnuir.
