Random thought here, as Ash is considered a "Lunar Dragon" by the motes he intakes, would type would technically be his parents? As I don't really see any specific mixture causing that specific outcome. or is the species of hatchlings based on chance? I know this kinda ruins the "mysticality" (that a word?) of the book, but this was something that intrigued me as I'm currently in my genealogy classes.
