Adriana Trigiani My characters come to me, aspects of character are based on real people- but they are fully drawn in my imagination- I see them as if they're real...so it's a little fictitious and also real...xxx
Adriana Trigiani Dear Patricia- I don't know- but there is a crowd mentality- and when people are afraid, their worst instincts propel the action- the same goes for goodness by the way- we can be inspired to be good- and we can be pushed to do wrong- maybe the answer lies in the power of one person's moral compass- to follow his or her own heart- which encourages others to do the same...that's the narrative of The Good Left Undone- Thank you for reading it! xxx
Adriana Trigiani Thank you dear Patricia! I cried through the writing process- and you, the reader is always in the front of my mind and in my heart! I'm thrilled you read The Good Left Undone!
Adriana Trigiani Hi Isabelle!

The Viola books, Very Valentine books, and Big Stone Gap books are all series.

The Good Left Undone is a standalone book! Enjoy! Xx
Adriana Trigiani "The Good Left Undone" is a novel that takes place in contemporary Italy, the Italy of the last century, southern France and Scotland- I found the story while directing a movie in Scotland- which I married to an idea which I heard from my cousins in Italy- it's the story of a woman who is matriarch of her family who feels she has failed to tell the truth of their story- her mother's story...it took many years to get here- to streamline the ideas and create a page-turner- you will tell me if I succeeded- I surely hope I did!
Adriana Trigiani I look forward to every day that I write. Sounds crazy- but I love the work so much- and I want it to be as perfect as possible- the inspiration comes in the desire to tell an effortless story...to bring you characters you somehow know but have never met...in a world you have never visited. It's my job to immerse you in a place and time that you never want to leave- that the characters are so real to you, you can't imagine reaching the end. Inspiration comes from the hope that I can transport the reader and open her mind and heart to new possibilities and dreams.
Adriana Trigiani I'm going to tour with The Good Left Undone, I can't wait to meet you- and can't wait for you to read it. I am working on a new novel and a screenplay- and I have a play for the theater that I have been noodling for several years.
Adriana Trigiani First of all, congratulations- this is a wonderful profession and I want you to have my job. My advice is simple: read. From there, keep your own counsel and put your ideas on the page. If you stay at it everyday, those ideas take root and become a story. Characters emerge. Your confidence builds- and you stay at it- one sentence at a time until you know you've reached the end. There's a world of hungry readers out there waiting for your story.
Adriana Trigiani There are wonderful aspects to being a writer- but the first one is...your question. You asked for the best aspect of the work- which tells me that you love to write- and to read. The best thing is sharing ideas, having conversations, experiencing new worlds and tackling subjects together- The best thing about being a writer is the reader.
Adriana Trigiani I don't believe in it- so I haven't experienced it. I think that what some writers call writer's block is just an idea that hasn't cooked yet. Get up from the chair and stay away until you have decided what it is you are trying to say. Sometimes it helps to write in another form- a poem, automatic writing as in journaling- a letter you will never send- that sort of thing. Sometimes it really helps to sleep for a few minutes- I lie down on the office floor and snooze until my subconscious figures out how to get me back on the storytelling track.
Adriana Trigiani The Good Left Undone publishes on April 26th- and I am going around the country to meet readers. I hope I'm coming to your town! Let us know where you are at adrianamailings@gmail.com- and we'll let you know how close we will get to you! Thank you for asking- and can't wait to see you this spring!
Adriana Trigiani Need your help on this one Sandra. It sounds like a line from a Bill Murray comedy in the 80's.
Adriana Trigiani I'm in the make-up chair at the Today Show. The makeup artist hands me the mascara wand and I stab myself in the eye.
Adriana Trigiani I'd visit Sotto il Monte, Italy at the turn of the last century when Pope John XXIII was a boy. I am fascinated by those times- before World War 1- when the world was innocent- or at least more innocent than it is now. You didn't need a passport- or wealth- just a desire to see the world- I would have started in Sotto il Monte, and made my way up the Italian Alps to my grandparents villages- and then I would've gone everywhere a train could take me.
Adriana Trigiani This is an old question but it's a great question because it's always fresh! I am reading a stack of books of wonderful authors who are coming on FB Live over at Adriana Trigiani at FB- the show is called Adriana Ink- I hope you tune in- we have everyone from debut authors, to blockbuster thriller authors to health and beauty- science and self help- There's no genre we don't bring to you- I think you'd love it and find plenty of wonderful titles for that beach bag!
Adriana Trigiani We all have mysteries regarding the family members we never met either because we weren't born yet (!) or much lore has been built around the story of their lives. I am forever piecing together clues about those that came before me- I spoke with a man in Chisholm, Minnesota in his 90's that remembered my grandfather from his boyhood. I asked him lots of questions- but mostly, I was thrilled that he knew him.
