I would go to the Tuscany in "The Tuscan Child." It sounds like a wonderful place to live.

Supposedly, my grandmother's first husband was a very mean man. He was suspected to be a cattle rustler, among other things. Rumor has it that he would not sit beside a lighted window at night because he was afraid someone might take a shot at him. But the worst thing about him was that he was an abusive husband and my grandmother's brother told him he if he hit her again, he'd be dead. So apparently, the abuse continued and my great uncle took him out. He was never convicted because everyone thought he'd done a good thing, ridding the community of a bad man. My mother told me this; she was the product of her mother's second husband who was a nice man, but her mother wouldn't confirm the story. It was other relatives who told her about it.

I must admit I'm partial to my characters Lexie and Russell in The Gilded Curse. I love their rapport, their easy-going relationship (for the most part), as well as the tension they feel due to their differences.

I wanted to write a Southern Gothic, and I was on vacation. When we visited Jekyll Island, the location and its history worked together for a suspense novel, so I ran with it.

Sometimes I get inspired by my critique partners. Other times I get inspired after I read another book. Overall, the motivation to see my stories come to fruition is inspiration.

Honestly, right now I'm working on marketing my new book. But when I get back to writing, I'm going to review the first book in a series I've written to see if I can make it better, then edit the second book in the series for the same reason, then finish the third book in the series which is about a third done at this point.

Attend conferences. Keep learning. Keep trying to improve. Listen to the experienced authors who've already traveled this road and believe their words of wisdom applies to you, too.

The ability to work whenever I can and the opportunity to "go to another place" in my mind.

I read what I've written so far or look at some research I've done to get me back on track. Sometimes I go back and look at the synopsis to see where I'm trying to go.
