Once I've gotten something down on the computer, and I've got at least two pages out, I can usually pursue the project to completion. The work takes on a momentum of its own as I get the ball rolling. But getting the ball rolling in the first place is the tough part. Coming up with an idea for a work can be maddening, but you can't let it seize you up. Let it flow . . . even if at first it seems like a crappy idea, just write something. Maybe it'll turn out well. There are no guarantees that you're going to create a great story. But if you don't let it flow, you have nothing. So what if I write a piece of crap? I can always throw it out. Not everything can be a gold nugget. It helps to be relaxed when you're writing, so that extraneous interruptions and disruptive emotions don't hamper your creativity. Such interruptions and emotions can exert a chokehold on creativity. I have a name for this relaxation. I call it balancing, or centering, myself. I like to take long walks to relax myself and get me in shape for the marathon of writing. Writing is hard, time-consuming work, but don't make it too hard on yourself or you will stopper your creativity. Once you get started writing, it goes easy. At this point, you are like a well-honed athlete doing his thing. And then it all falls into place.(less)

Unsane by Steven Soderbergh

I have mixed feelings about Steven Soderbergh’s latest thriller Unsane.  I liked the way he worked his trademark indictment of the health insurance industry into the film’s story, which made it seem more realistic.  On the other hand, the whole movie was shot on an iPhone, and the results are a blurry, dreary movie, especially when the scenes are shot inside the insane asylum.  Everything seems to

message 12: by P.J.

P.J. Kelley Hi Bryan,

I wrote a new book, and whatever you could do to help me would be greatly appreciated. I do think you might enjoy the book, and this is a very rare promotion from me.

I am sending this message to all my goodreads friends.

My new book is free tomorrow on Amazon (5/9/2015).

If you miss the free day, email me and I will send in any format.

You would be doing me a huge favor if you downloaded it and helped send it to the top of the free list for the day.

As an Indie writer, this is the best form of promotion I have.

The book is short, but it took me a couple of years to write, believe it or not, so I do not consider this request spam. I don't like everything I write, but I like this book, so am making this extra effort to promote it.

Also, if you do read the book, provide some honest input (I can take it) and pass the link along to your friends if you are willing.

Free 5-9-2015
Just published won't be free again.
