A Tale As Old As Websites: Squarespace and Barry Keoghan Celebrate the Timeless Spirit of Entrepreneurship in 2025 Super Bowl Campaign
Squarespace is proud to unveil its 11th Super Bowl campaign starring acclaimed actor Barry Keoghan. The 30-second spot, titled ‘A Tale As Old As Websites’, will air between the first and second quarters of Super Bowl LIX on February 9, 2025.
As a pioneer of modern websites, Squarespace has played a defining role in shaping how people bring their businesses to life online – and in encouraging them to do so. This campaign, directed by Steve Rogers, seamlessly blends the old with the new, bringing to life a world where Squarespace’s platform existed long before its time, empowering people to transform their skills into thriving businesses online.
Set in a bygone era in Ireland, the humorous tale showcases how Squarespace’s intuitive tools allow everyone – no matter the time or place – to turn their ideas into reality. As Barry spreads the Squarespace word across the countryside, he inspires established businesses like Daly’s Bar and aspiring entrepreneurs like the Shepherd to elevate their digital presence and expand their reach with a beautiful and intuitive website.
“I’m a very proud Irish lad so bringing this campaign to life with Squarespace and shooting it against the beautiful backdrop of Ireland was incredible,” said Barry Keoghan. “Squarespace has always made incredible advertisements with such top tier filmmakers, actors and actresses, so to have a chance to work with Steve Rogers and the amazing crew and people was special. Steve has done a brilliant job showcasing Squarespace in a very slick and cool narrative and I am excited for people to see. It also gave me a chance to work with a donkey again too!”
The Super Bowl spot is the centerpiece of a broader campaign designed to inspire viewers to embrace the opportunities in front of them. Beyond the game-day ad, the campaign includes an extended version of the spot, additional shorts of Barry helping local businesses get online, and Barry and Mosley – a comedic film in which Barry helps create a website for his co-star, Don Mosley. The campaign celebrates Squarespace’s enduring impact on the evolution of the internet and the possibilities it unlocks for everyone.
“For nearly as long as there have been websites, there’s been Squarespace,” said David Lee, Chief Creative Officer at Squarespace. “This year’s Super Bowl campaign is a tongue-in-cheek exploration of what could have been if Squarespace existed in another era – one where websites were delivered door-to-door like newspapers. It’s a celebration of Squarespace’s legacy, blending humor and filmic storytelling to inspire anyone who's ever thought about bringing an idea to life online.”
The campaign also features a dedicated Mosley website design to help aspiring entrepreneurs get noticed online. Inspired by the website Barry helps make for his beloved donkey in Barry and Mosley, the template includes everything needed to establish a standout digital presence, including advanced layouts, animations, a portfolio, and appointment booking through Acuity Scheduling.
By combining cutting-edge technology with thoughtful design, Squarespace empowers millions of individuals and businesses with the tools needed to succeed. To learn more about Squarespace or build a website using the Mosley website design, click here.

Jeff Koons and Squarespace Unveil Bold New Collection: A Fusion of Art and Innovation
We are thrilled to unveil the fourth iteration of Squarespace Collection, a collaboration with Jeff Koons, one of the world’s most prominent working artists. Squarespace Collection is an award-winning partnership series in which Squarespace partners with the world's most creative minds to develop signature website designs. Jeff Koons joins Björk, Magnum Photos and Rick Rubin as contributors on inspired template designs, all featured alongside thousands of other options that inspire millions to get started on their own creative journey online through Squarespace.
Koons collaborated with Squarespace to revamp his website, jeffkoons.com, to showcase over four decades of his work online. Koons is well known for his Celebration series, notably the iconic “Balloon Dog,” one of the most photographed artworks in the world. This is the first time Koons’ complete works can be viewed in one place. The site serves as a chronological and archival representation of his illustrious career while also democratizing access for anyone to view his work online. The website’s design reflects Koons’ ethos of connection and accessibility, blending everyday images and objects to invite viewers to interpret and enjoy the art in their own way.
“I've enjoyed my collaboration with Squarespace designing a website that brings all my works to date together,” said Jeff Koons. “I was able to create with Squarespace a site that communicates visually, emotionally, and intellectually the way I see the world. This custom website design called Reflect will give the user the same power and dynamism to create their own visual story through the use of this template.”
Koons’ site inspired a new custom website template, Reflect, now available to all Squarespace customers. Reflect is built on boundary-pushing design structure and the functionality needed to house a modern portfolio. The new template offers a unique starting point for creatives and artists alike to showcase their work expressively through a bold approach to branding and display for projects. Reflect also leans on conventional viewing methods like gridded text, galleries and accordion blocks for the artworks, which allows the art to take center-stage without distraction.
Squarespace’s award-winning Creative team, in collaboration with Jeff Koons, produced a short film, Inflate, to accompany the Collection. The team also created a separate short film showcasing the creative process behind building Koons' website. It was directed and produced in-house and shot at Jeff Koons’ studio in New York City.
“As one of the most influential visual artists of our time, Jeff’s work has inspired both our team and a global audience for decades,” said David Lee, Chief Creative Officer. “Built on 20 years of design excellence, Squarespace shares Jeff’s ideology in democratizing access to design and art. His meticulous approach and impactful body of work are unmatched, and we hope this Collection inspires other artists and doers to showcase their portfolios and businesses online with Squarespace.”
The website design is available in six languages: English, German, French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. You can find more information on the latest Squarespace Collection here and access to the new website design, Reflect, here.

Squarespace Rolls Out New Subscription Features To Help Entrepreneurs Easily Earn Recurring Revenue
The number of people selling content online, from online courses to memberships to videos, is at an all-time-high and growing. Thousands of Squarespace customers created content to sell in the past year alone, and the number of entrepreneurs making money on our platform has increased by more than 50%.
To further help entrepreneurs monetize their content, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of new features designed to help them turn their passion into profit:
Turn blog readers into paying subscribers with blog paywalls
Starting today, anyone can turn articles into a passive income stream by adding a paywall to their blog. Squarespace customers can simply set the price, and choose whether to charge a one-time fee or recurring subscription. Readers will see a preview of the blog content, and then pay for access to unlock entire posts.

Earn recurring revenue by selling video subscriptions
Video creators can monetize content by charging for access to their video library, or by placing a paywall directly on a video player. They can also offer a selection of videos for free as a preview to attract potential subscribers. Their audience can explore titles, thumbnails, and descriptions of videos before deciding to purchase access to the full video content.

Bundle and tier content
Entrepreneurs can sell individual pieces of content, or bundle various content types together into complete packages. For example, a creator can bundle an online course with access to a blog, or pair a membership with access to a video library. They can also create tiered offerings, selling select content for a base price and setting a higher price for full access to their entire content library.

“At Squarespace, we are building a versatile toolkit to make it effortless for the next generation of entrepreneurs and creators to get online, monetize their work and grow a business,” said Paul Gubbay, Chief Product Officer at Squarespace. “Modern entrepreneurs are looking for a platform adaptable enough to bring all of their ideas and creativity to life. From writing articles, to posting video content and creating multimedia online courses – we are committed to lowering the barrier of entry for anyone looking to share their knowledge online.”
These latest features join our growing set of tools designed to help entrepreneurs unlock income on our platform. Anyone with a Squarespace Business or Commerce plan can access them through their existing Squarespace plan, and customers with a Squarespace Personal plan can access them by attaching the Digital Products Add-On plan to their subscription.
Additional Squarespace tools to capture audiences and monetize include online courses, memberships, and Squarespace Email Campaigns. To learn more about easy ways to monetize audiences and run businesses online, click here.

Hello Down There: Squarespace Teams Up with Martin Scorsese for its 2024 Super Bowl Campaign
Squarespace is proud to reveal its 10th Super Bowl campaign directed by Martin Scorsese. The 30-second spot, titled 'Hello Down There’, will run during the first half of Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11, 2024.
Squarespace helps millions of entrepreneurs worldwide succeed and, for the first time ever, the platform has been tapped by extraterrestrials looking to capture the attention of the billions of earthlings below.
Directed by the legendary Martin Scorsese, ‘Hello Down There’ is a humorous take on capturing the essence of human life consumed by the digital world. As the spot opens, people around the world are so preoccupied by the normal barrage of digital content that they miss the bold attempts by extraterrestrials to make contact. The intergalactic visitors become increasingly frustrated, until they decide to leverage Earth’s best tool for standing out and getting noticed – a beautiful Squarespace website.
Leveraging the Squarespace platform, the extraterrestrials secured a domain and built a beautiful and unique website using Fluid Engine™, the simplest way to express creativity online. Creating their website was the first step in making their dream of intergalactic connection a reality. A website made them discoverable; it made them real.
“At my age, it's a stretch finding a directorial debut. When Squarespace first approached me to create a spot, I thought this was my shot,” said Martin Scorsese. “Let's go big, let's do something out of this world – space guys building a website. I'm a New Yorker. We're busy, always on the move. Would we even notice extraterrestrials living among us? It's going to launch on this show called Super Bowl? Supposed to be big!”
“At Squarespace, we have always said that an idea isn’t real until you make a website for it,” said David Lee, Chief Creative Officer at Squarespace. “It’s been an honor to work alongside the cinematic legend Martin Scorsese to bring this insight to life through his lens for our 10th Super Bowl campaign. Our focus on design and creativity has always been at the heart of our business and the reason why people choose us – and nothing illustrates this more than our Super Bowl campaigns.”
The Super Bowl advertisement is at the center of a broader marketing campaign that aims to highlight the legitimizing effect of having a professional web presence. In addition to the game day spot, the campaign includes a comprehensive global content marketing campaign leading up to, and following, the game that will be promoted across digital and social channels throughout the first half of 2024. Additional elements of the campaign include an extended version of the in-game spot, special edition movie posters, as well as additional video content, including a comedic short film featuring Martin Scorsese and his daughter Francesca Scorsese discussing the creation of a Squarespace website. Francesca also directed a behind-the-scenes look at the in-spot production process.

As part of the campaign, Squarespace launched a new special edition website template Hello Down There built on Fluid Engine™ that features a sci-fi inspired design system and offers dynamic commerce features, including an online store front, courses, and appointment-based bookings via Acuity Scheduling.
For anyone looking to turn their out of this world idea or business into reality, a website makes it real. Whether an entrepreneur or extraterrestrial, Squarespace has all the tools you need to stand out and succeed. From securing your domain, building a beautiful and integrated online presence, and running your business, Squarespace makes it easier than ever to get started.

The results came together in a one-of-a-kind photography project, which includes six signature website designs inspired by each photographer’s creativity and the design choices they made for their own Squarespace websites.
Continued Globalization of Our Suite of Products: In a testament to Squarespace's continuous commitment to supporting entrepreneurs globally, we increased our currency options 5x, which, alongside our growing support languages, bolsters our ability to support our international customers. Brought Pro Users Together for Our 2nd Annual Circle Day: Circle Day is a hybrid event dedicated to giving our Circle community, Squarespace’s partner program for professional web designers, behind-the-scenes product access and first-hand knowledge from some of Squarespace Circle’s most influential members. This year, we extended the conference to two days, adding a Member Workshop Day where attendees got to experience using the Courses product and develop their own "course" with fellow Circle members. Our CEO, Anthony Casalena, joined us this year for a Q&A and our Chief Creative Officer, David Lee, wrapped the conference discussing creativity and how to stay inspired.
Held Our Annual Hack Weeks & Design Weeks: At Squarespace, we celebrate creative possibilities. There is no greater example of this commitment at work than our annual Hack Week and Design Week, where members of the Engineering, Product Management, and Product Design departments have the opportunity to investigate creative concepts, freeing themselves to work on anything they want.
Celebrated the 10 Year Anniversary of Dublin Office: We celebrated the 10th anniversary of launching Squarespace’s office in Dublin, Ireland in July 2013. In honor of this occasion we hosted various games, activities, and events such as Squarespace Olympics, video game tournaments and an in person happy hour for all employees in Ireland.
Achieved Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies & Other Global Recognition: We are continuously humbled to be recognized as a best in class organization in various areas including being employer of choice, the excellence of our customer support team, our impeccable in-house creative work, or as an accelerating business. In 2023 alone Squarespace won over 25 awards and recognitions, including a Fast Company Award for Most Innovative Companies and Comparably’s Best Places to Work in New York.

In addition, we introduced the second edition of Squarespace Collection (formerly Squarespace Icons), our award-winning partnership series, with famed photography agency Magnum Photos. For this collaboration, we partnered with six of Magnum’s world renowned photographers to capture original imagery from across the world. The results came together in a one-of-a-kind photography project, which includes six signature website designs built on Fluid Engine™. Each design is inspired by the photographer’s creative vision and the design choices for their own Squarespace websites, and are available as a starting point for anyone looking to build a website with Squarespace. As part of the series, all six photographers will provide a limited number of one-on-one photography portfolio critiques, available by signing up via Acuity Scheduling*.
