Eva’s Byte #375 - My Summer Staple
When summer rolls around, I fancy a lobster salad roll which consists of lobster meat piled onto Bibb lettuce inside a toasted & buttered hot dog bun. Of course, a side of fries accompanies it. In New England, preference for the blue-blooded crustacean boils down to the great Yankee debate:
Maine-style = cold lobster is tossed with mayonnaise, tarragon, and celery—taking on the consistency of a salad. Hence, the serving on bread is called a “lobster salad roll”.
Connecticut-style = lobster meat is drizzled with butter, served warm on bread without lettuce. Hence, it’s called a “lobster roll”.
Regardless of style, this summer staple is usually priced daily. And it’s pricey. You might say I’m willing to walk the plank for it every now and then—Maine-style. In my native state of Rhode Island, there are plenty of reputable seafood shacks dotted along the Atlantic Seaboard worth braking for.
In the capacity of a writer, this week I completed the draft of chapter 14 (1045 words) of my Contemporary work in progress. I’m nearing the end of the plank for chapter 15 (1488 words thus far).
*As life is too short, let’s not skimp at our own expense.
My sincere appreciation if you’ve read this far.
