Eva’s Byte #334 – Beauty in the Broken

Whether it’s distressed furniture, vintage apparel, chipped antiques, shabby-chic discards, or what have you—there’s an appreciation for timeworn objects in their altered state. Ever since I began my hobby of collecting sea glass, I have found beauty in each broken piece honed over a rough-and-tumble course of 5-50 years.

Some broken things cannot be fixed, and are meant to be appreciated the way they are.

A daily inspirational quote I came across seems to fit here:

“The most beautiful souls are often the most broken.”

In my capacity as a writer, the genre of Contemporary Women’s fiction provides an environment for protagonists with broken souls. It’s the stuff writers of any genre tap into. Perhaps, our characters step off the page because we’ve given them a piece of our soul. We’re under no obligation to disclose this unless we so choose.

At this point in time, I’m halfway through the third and final round of edits in my WIP. Still tweaking here and there, whether it’s broken or not, I’m fixin’ it for betterment.

When it comes to a book, there’s no beauty in the broken with regard to slipshod writing mechanics.

*That said, nothing and no one is perfect.

My sincere appreciation if you’ve read this far.
