Pedal to the Medal

An Enlightening Quiche by Eva Pasco

First, I’d like to wish my fellow Indies a Happy Indie Author Day which officially falls on October 14th this year.

Since my life, as it pertains to an Indie, is that of a whirling dervish, these cliches’ come to mind besides the one in my blog title: seize the moment; strike while the iron is hot; burning the midnight oil.

An Indie author, I’m grateful for every golden opportunity, so strike while the iron is hot in procuring author guest spots to stay in the public eye. I’m honored to have a feature in this month’s issue of Indie Publishing News:

I’m striking while it’s hot to officially launch my nonfiction memoir collection—100 WILD Mushrooms: Memoirs of the ‘60s (published - October 9, 2017) during my author takeover on Friday, the 13th from 8-9 EDT at The Indie Fab Festival event on Facebook:

Then, the real work begins with marketing and promoting a new book on the block. As you might imagine, my cognitive wheels are already spinning in anticipation and preparation. Next week’s blog will be the bearer of that news.

In the meantime, I’m putting the pedal to the metal to accelerate—even if it means I must burn the midnight oil to accomplish my goals.

Eva’s Byte #214: Leaping Off the Page—DOREEN GALE

NEW RELEASE!

In Character:

Whaddya know! Eva hit the “publish” button at Amazon. MR. WIZARDO is LIVE! The Kindle Edition is available, and the Paperback is in review.

Thanks to Renee Gauthier (RM Designs), who formatted the interior and designed the cover, I’m proud to strut my stuff between the pages.

As Eva already pointed out, this Contemporary novella conveys the central themes of Baum’s classic, but the buck stops there for any other similarities. Scott Crowe, Lyle Forrest, Tim Woodman and I evolve through a life of our own. Each of us grapples with demons, dilemmas, and despair stirred by twists of fate.

Fate brought me to Kansas in the first place. Uprooted from New York, I didn’t exactly fit in with the student population of Franklin High. Struttin’ my stuff in black-on-black and red footwear, three of the most popular girls call me “Wicked Witch of the East” behind my back. I don’t do myself any favors by antagonizing them, putting myself in grave danger. Mr. Wizardo bless his soul, turned my life around.

If not for his funeral, I would never have set foot in Baxter Springs. But, even in death, Mr. Wizardo comes through for me. You’ll see.

As for the other guys, they’ve got their own reasons for wanting to attend the funeral of our former guidance counselor.

For any single gals in the reading pool, Tim Woodman is a good catch. Just sayin’!

May you take a leap of faith by venturing on a soulful journey along the figurative yellow brick road between the pages of MR. WIZARDO. Walk that fine line between magic and realism to discover what destiny holds in store for each of us. If you plan on an extended stay in Baxter Springs, book a room at the Rainbow Hotel.

Eva’s Byte #215 – Left to My Own Devices…

Underlying Notes by Eva Pasco

100 Wild Mushrooms Memoirs of the ‘60s by Eva Pasco

Mr. Wizardo by Eva Pasco

I’m capable of wreaking havoc.

“Well, here's another nice mess you've gotten me into.” (Oliver Hardy)

I got myself into another nice mess through my overzealousness to publish my latest release in Kindle and Paperback formats. For all of my valiant efforts, I may as well give a shout-out, while I’m at it, to ‘Mr. Wizardo,’ a novella in the categories of: Women’s Psychological Fiction/Women’s Romance Fiction.

I’m giving myself the full Monty of 72 hours to see if both editions merge on Amazon before I call Author Central.

Instead of leaving well enough alone at Goodreads by uploading only the Kindle edition, left to my own devices, I created a tempest beyond the turbulence in ‘Mr. Wizardo’. I not only added the Paperback, but thought, “Why not combine them?”

In retrospect, I should have left the Paperback out of the mix.

Hence, the havoc:

‘Mr. Wizardo’ disappeared from my Author Dashboard all together, although the book was around, if you get my drift. If one entered a title search on Goodreads, it popped up.

Until remedied, the book even made its own appearance under one of my other novels. Aie, aie, aie!

How could a book be nowhere, yet somewhere else?

I reported my issue by posting my own new thread in the Librarians Group, “Combining and Unmerging”. I’m certainly not alone where it comes to all sorts of “book issues” imaginable and unimaginable there.

All’s well that ends well, thanks to the Librarians who got me out of my fine mess in no time flat, and also apprised me of it.

By and large, the Indie author’s precarious and unpredictable journey begins once “The End” is attained in a document. Left to one’s own devices, as in my case, unforeseen challenges crop up. Fortunately, there is plenty of support at the asking to clean up my fine messes.

Eva’s Byte #337 – Sometime Tomorrow

The words in the title of a poignant song, “Sometime Tomorrow” by Conrad Goode, whose lyrics resonate in my soul, served as inspiration to write one of my tributes on the Acknowledgement page in Etta’s Fishing Ground. Unbeknownst to me until I got there, those two words also became part of the finish line in the Epilogue.

My “sometime tomorrow” for the print version to go live on Amazon could take up to 72 hours. Since the Kindle version went live on 10/12 EST, the countdown clock is ticking.

While I’m not going hog-wild to promote my new release until the print copy is available on Amazon, I’ve tossed in the link to the eBook:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09J8WMH9Q/

Anyway, for a quirky diversion, I thought I’d list the props which ground my story. In and of themselves, they probably seem downright kooky. Should you decide to blaze a trail along Etta’s Fishing Ground until the journey’s end, they’ll make perfect sense.

Cheesy sausage-and-croissant casserole
A dead bass
A 1950 Ford Woodie Wagon
A 1969 Citroen named Sydney
Cabin No. 6
An Aspidistra

*May each of us accomplish our current goals in the vicinity of the long or short of sometime tomorrow.

My sincere appreciation if you’ve read this far.
