Perks in the Works!

While I have shared plenty of pitfalls in my life as an Indie author, this week has piled on the perks for my Contemporary Women’s Fiction novel, AN ENLIGHTENING QUICHE:

1 - My novel merited a 5-Star Badge from ATAI, signifying it was a finalist in their 2017 Book Award Contest for the category of Fiction. Accompanying the notification I received, was this statement - "And, please note that we take great pride in the fact that it is certainly not easy to earn 4 or 5 stars from our team."

BOOK REVIEW:

2 – I have registered for the first Navigating Indieworld event scheduled for March 27, 28, and 29.

3 – Count me in for the “Brain to Books Cyber Convention and Book Expo 2017 hosted entirely online on April 7, 8, and 9. I’ve registered for the Book Expo, Author Showcase, and Genre Blog Tour. I’m eager to work on getting my cyber booth in shape for the epic event.

4- Taking a dry run to the Lincoln Senior Center and dropping off a book poster and flyer in preparation for my book signing on Monday, March 13th—I did a double take! Arriving on the grounds, I thought I was at a resort in the Catskills! The modern, sprawling building reminded me of a ski lodge. I had to scout for an available parking spot in a vast area. Meanwhile, people were disembarking from buses loitering by the main entrance. When I followed on their heels to get inside, the posh waiting area bustled with seniors. During my brief acquaintance with the director at the front desk, who assured me there would be people in attendance at my event scheduled for 10:00 AM, I walked out of there with a spring in my step.

Thus far, this entails my last local author event since I embarked on a whirlwind book signing tour throughout Rhode Island commencing in January. I hope citizens in my hometown show their support by snaring an autographed/personalized copy of my novel which takes place in my neck of the woods. That would be something worth writing home about!

Knock, Knock...

An Enlightening Quiche by Eva Pasco

Who’s there?

Opportunity!

I hear you knocking—please, come in!

Though Opportunity may knock but once, to my surprise and delight, it knocked three times for me this week!

In real time:

July 1st – I discovered that I’m a semifinalist along with so many other impressive authors for this month’s “Golden Box Books Quill Award”. A shout out to fellow Indie Fabs: Aliya Dal Rae, JB Richards, and Lyra Shanti whose books are also represented. If you’re inclined to vote for my Contemporary Women’s Fiction novel—‘An Enlightening Quiche’ is number 8.

All you have to do is click on the link and enter a number as a comment. That said, you can vote for more than one entry, but you can vote only once. I placed my votes for these books which I’ve read and reviewed: #1 (Sweet Vengeance); #9 (Shiva XIV); #21 (Miriamne, the Magdala).

July 2nd – Taken by surprise because I never submitted a book review request, my novel received a wonderful review from esteemed author/blogger/reviewer Roy Murry:

July 5th - My exclusive book interview on “The Authors Show” went live for the third time since it aired originally! Packed into this 15-minute, fast-paced segment, I delve into what I deem is the single most important idea in ‘An Enlightening Quiche’ —letting go of the past! I hope you’ll lend me your ear:

May Opportunity knock more than once for every Indie author who has a story to tell and sell!

Offsets

An Enlightening Quiche by Eva Pasco

100 Wild Mushrooms Memoirs of the ‘60s by Eva Pasco

Underlying Notes by Eva Pasco

Once Upon A Fabulous Time... by R.M. Gauthier

‘Tis the season for shouts of “ho, ho, ho!” For an Indie author such as myself, it’s the lament, “no, no, no!” All the hustle and bustle in preparation for the Christmas holiday may be the culprit for sluggish, sporadic, and stagnant book sales as of late.

Yet, the offsets outweigh the setbacks:

*My Non-Fiction Memoir collection, '100 Wild Mushrooms: Memoirs of the ‘60s' won the “Golden Squirrel Independent Book Award for Best Non-Fiction”!

Within the span of a week, this Work received two more 5-Star reviews.

*I won a promo for Golden Box Books Publishing Services, January magazine.

*I won a contest sponsored by Rose Montague’s “12 Days of Book Buying Christmas Event”, and selected the Kindle copy for 'Walls of Silence' by Helen Pryke:

Local News:

*A photographer from 'The East Providence Post' snapped several author photos for an upcoming article featuring my Non-Fiction Memoir collection published this past October.

*I received an invitation to participate in the 3rd Annual Book lovers' Local Author Expo at the Cumberland Library in February.

For an Indie author, success isn’t defined by the amount of book sales. It’s about asserting one’s visibility for the recognition our literary endeavors deserve.
