“For what?” I ask, smiling.
She winks at me. “For the future. For our life. For whatever you want.”

My gaze travels to Clara. She’s standing upright, tall and triumphant like a glorious goddess of vengeance, impressive and ethereally beautiful with the thermos flask in her hand like a divine weapon. A sacred, powerful weapon—that old, slightly dented, checkered red thermos flask that my mother gave me several years ago.
And then she yells at the top of her lungs, “You’re right, we’re women! And don’t you forget it!”
